tspooh Posted January 29, 2015 #26 Share Posted January 29, 2015 'Message in a bottle" was the best and will appeal to all audiences. The "Lose your Virginity" was tacky and outdated.
travler27 Posted January 29, 2015 #27 Share Posted January 29, 2015 In my opinion, it's a tacky ad. However, it does tend to promote the unsophisticated image most folks have of Carnival. Even though it is about Carnival the corporation, I think most viewers will only see Carnival the cruise line.

winddawn Posted January 29, 2015 #29 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Not sure if this has already been posted, and I'm sure some of you have seen this already, but here is Carnival's upcoming Superbowl ad. No doubt there will be several opinions of it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7Bzwo-Hz2I I saw this Forbes article yesterday. It says that Carnival's commercial may be considered one of the best Superbowl commercials and calls it the most likely to go viral. Interesting. http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidlariviere/2015/01/28/carnival-cruise-lines-bud-light-may-have-best-super-bowl-ads-expert-says/?partner=yahootix

IMO, "Get Away" is of a higher quality production-wise than "Message."

BaseballMomof4 Posted January 29, 2015 #33 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Sorry, but I personally think is bad taste. I think on a scale of one to four hour erections we get to hear about every night during our evening news this is pretty tame :p
Rare LMaxwell Posted January 29, 2015 #34 Share Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) 'Message in a bottle" was the best and will appeal to all audiences. The "Lose your Virginity" was tacky and outdated. Message in a bottle lost me half way through, I'd have gotten up for a snack or changed the channel. Nothing grabbed me. As far as the Getaway commercial...who in their right mind thought the tagline of the commercial should be the name of the Flagship of the third largest cruise company in the world (Competitor)? I thought that commercial was decent but not great or memorable. Lose Your Virginity relies on the viewer to interpret the message. The viewer fills in the blank until the end of the commercial. If you find it racy or taboo, that it is because it is your own mind doing it. Again, I thought it was very clever and well done. Classy? Maybe not. But clever, yes. And the point of advertising ultimately is to get people to talk about your brand. This was the only ad that did that for me. 1 Buffett Fan Posted January 29, 2015 Author #38 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Thanks for sharing. My cruise friends on Facebook are replying about their "first times." - "My first time was on a Queen," says my gay friend. - "Is it weird to say I first did it when I was 6?" - "I mostly do it with my mom but i did it with my boyfriend once." - "I first did it with my family. It was a little awkward, but we all enjoyed it." - "My first lasted 5 days. When it was over, I was ready to do it again." MisterMom, thanks for sharing those. In the spirit of the commercial, I'll add a few more... “During my first time, the channel was really narrow”. “I paid way too much money my first time”. “My first time, a group of people showed me the gangway” “My first time, we had barely eased into port when all the passengers suddenly disembarked”. TheInnocentAge Posted January 29, 2015 #41 Share Posted January 29, 2015 I watched all four and I like this one the best. Pretty funny. I think so too; this one (Cruise Virgin) would get my vote. Kudos to Carnival for not being afraid to take a little risk and be creative with the double entendres. As was mentioned earlier, if these ads make people remember them and talk about them, that's the point. That's the goal of any commercial, and they've succeeded in what they've set out to do. It hasn't even officially aired yet. Also, shout outs to Buffett Fan and Mister Mom for adding the additional "first time" ideas earlier in the thread! Those were a hoot. You see what they film and what the marketing folks want you to see. What I see that guy doing is definitely not something I "want" to see. That ad is about as subtle as a 2 x 4 to the head. About as clever too.

tamirpr Posted January 30, 2015 #46 Share Posted January 30, 2015 I find it inappropriate and only bolsters the party ship image I thought they were trying to get away from. But it will be memorable, that's for sure, which is the purpose.

Silverman Posted January 30, 2015 #50 Share Posted January 30, 2015 The only thing I got from the Commercial is. If I was young and still a virgin. I would lose it on a Carnival Cruise. Where do I sign up? HAHAHAHA!! Seriously though very, very bad taste. But what do you expect from the Walmart of the Seas.
