So now I can have my privacy and belong to the Havana club too!!! So excited!!!

I changed my cabin this morning to one of the premium balconies on deck 6 (I wanted an aft wrap, but they were all gone :( ). While I love the idea of the deck 5 cabins, security regarding those cabins hasn't been addressed yet, and I really only booked the havana cabins because of the interior and access to the havana pool and bar

Yes, until 5:00pm. There is a pool & 2 hot tubs at the aft of that deck 5, plus a bar inside. After 5:00pm, anybody can utilize the bar & pool area. But remember that the "balconies" are actually patios, with a short gate separating your area from a public walkway that is open to the public 24 hours a day. Considering this, I would probably go for a Havana inside room.

If the walkway is public and open 24 hours, how do they keep people out of the Havana club pool area???

The lanai area adjacent to the Havana patios will only be accessible by fellow Havana folks.

After 5:00, the only way in to the pool area is through the Havana Bar, on deck 5.

The entire area is to be key-card controlled, so only those booked in a Havana cabin, will have access.

Are you absolutely sure the lanai is a controlled area? And 24/7?

so at 5PM people enter the bar area to use the pool, in bathing suits and the like and then re exit the same way. but now they will be in wet or sweaty bathing suits, possibly bare feet, dripping water, some men perhaps being bare chested , (it happens all the time in area's with pools-like the lido marketplace) and teens sweeping in, all the while you are trying to enjoy your Mojito at the Havana Club bar which will also be an area for music and dancing?

what time does the pool close? the bar? Is the pool 12 and up only before 5PM, so could kids come in after 5PM? but the entire teen club could show up?

This sounds like a potential mess.

I guess I'm not too worried about the details :). It has been said numerous times the Lanai area will be controlled by keycard.

Very much much looking forward to my Havana Cabana, and sailing with friends.

I seriously doubt that people will come after 5 to swim in the Havana pool when all the action is on the Lido. I, do think, however, that many people will come to the Havana Bar for the Latin Dance Parties and yummy drinks, so, just to be safe, I changed to a Havana room on the Empress Deck! Best of both worlds :)

I'm sure you are looking forward to it and you should but my questions remain unanswered. And probably will until someone actually sails on the ship and reports back.

One can always hope for the best, but should be prepared for the worst.

Except those who can't get close to the lido pool. ;)

Build it and they will come, there will be some people swimming in that pool after 5.

Hey this may all work out but given this is Carnival's first try at exclusive area's I'm sure it will be rocky, and let's hope they key lock the place because it darn sure won't be enforced, if they don't have to.

Haha true, true. I am hoping that after the first few sailings they have things figured out. I saw the Havana rooms, knew I wanted one, solely for the extra pool! I am usually an Aft Pool girl! :) If all else fails, I will switch to another room after I read the reviews and go back to my aft. No harm, no foul.

John Heald has published this information numerous times on his FB page, when questioned about it :)

I'm not sure all the Havana folks will will all be in the aft area all at the same time. This ship has numerous other areas to explore. Again, not too worried about. Our roll call has all but taken over the Havana cabins anyway ;)

  • 4 weeks later...

Wow, so much concern over how many will be at the pool after 5 p.m. and privacy of the cabana area.

As it has been stated by John Heald and other Carnival employees, the area directly in front of the Cabanas on Port and Starboard sides will be key card access only so I am not concerned about a constant parade of people going past.

Now, for the pool area after 5 p.m., I have been on 16 cruises to date and to be honest, most of all the pools and the area that surrounds them clear out by 6 with a few stragglers left. On around 8 or 9 it is rare to see anyone in the pools and this is on the open decks i.e. Lido. Most all are either at dinner, getting ready to go to dinner or going to the shows and such. I have strolled to the aft area on many of the ships I have sailed on and usually, this is the most unoccupied area of the ship in the evening and night even when it is the Serenity area.

Now that being said, there will probably be more people coming down after 5 p.m. on the first few cruises just to see what it looks like but I doubt that they will stay for long. The action places in the evening are the Ocean Plaza, the Red Frog Bar, the Casino and such.

It will be a work in progress I am sure for at least the first 3 or so sailings but I am sure Carnival will do what it takes to keep these cabins semi exclusive. If word starts spreading that there is no exclusivity and there are privacy issues, they will not be able to sell these cabins at the "much" higher rate that they are asking for now. JMHO

Well said. Exactly what we are thinking as well. Only time will tell!

I am booked on the 11/29/2016 sailing of the vista. I elected to get the premium vista Havana wrap aft balcony stateroom. I would advise to get the Havana so you can have the access to the areas, but maybe a private balcony Havana room if your worried about promenade onlookers. :)

John Heald said that the deck area outside of the "Patio" will be restricted to Havana Cabana guests and will have key card access. This will stop non cabana people from walking in front of your window.

I'm trying to figure out which rooms I'm looking at in the artists' rendering of the finished ship -

We're booked on the TransAtlantic in a Cove balcony, but I'm thinking about another Vista trip in 2017; and in the renderings, there's a particular shot from the aft looking forwards that shows balcony cabins overlooking the Havana pool. What room numbers are those..??? That's what I'd like to book, but I can't even figure out what deck that is..? Anyone know?

Those would be Decks 6 & 7 which are considered Havana Aft Balconies and Deck 8 which are standard aft balconies.

Looking at the deck plans, I see Cabins 6478 through 6471, which are at the fantail (eg, as far aft as you can go)...

I'm starting to think I'm looking at some other part of the ship - I'll try pasting this photo in - What cabins am I looking at here???

The Cabins right above the Havana area are deck 6 aft cabins that have been reclassified as Havana aft cabins, same for the next deck up which is deck 7 but the next deck up (deck 8) are classified as regular aft cabins.

If you have an email I can send you a PDF deck plan that will show you the cabins and you are correct, this picture is looking at the back cabins of the ship.

Ah! If seen the PDF of the deck plans but couldn't figure it out until I saw a rendering of the ship, quarter view astern as if from a helicopter. That, and your reassurance. Radical design departure from the Dream class after all.

I'd think the 6 Deck aft facing would be fantastic then.

We'll be on the transatlantic next year (in a cove balcony) but I gather these cabins are booking up as soon as Carnival opens the cruise up for booking.

Thanks much!

So Havana aft balcony vista wrap. Or junior suite ?

The aft wrap around balcony cabins that have Havana access are classes an HM (Havana Premium Vista Balcony) cabin. These are the aft and wrap balconies on deck 6 and 7 only. Those same cabins on deck 8 and 9 are not Havana cabins and do not have access to the Havana areas.

Yes. But is a junior suite better ? Better points ? Access ?

I think that is a personal decision. Folks like different cabins and locations for different reasons.

Not sure what you mean by "better points", but to me, suites on Carnival, which offer very few perks, just aren't worth it.
