Cheers Program - Add'l Tipping?

The cost includes a 15% tip but do you think it is customary to tip on top of that (assuming the service is good), especially for the poolside drink service?

When ANYONE decides to TAKE a tip from me, I'll be hard pressed to ever increase it, unless I can remove it.

Ok - I would feel cheap not adding even a little tip, especially the pool side waiters and the bar tenders b/c they work really hard getting drinks for a packed bar.

Don't waste your time. Those tips are pooled.

I always tip with cheers. For me if I order a drink that is delivered to me at the jacuzzi or lido area I do $1.00 extra or if its at the theater for a show I do $.50 extra. The servers definitely deserve everything they get!

We also tipped extra on the drinks we got on Carnival Liberty. We had great service in the casino bar and the lobby bar and felt the service deserved an additional tip. I don't believe those tips were pooled as often at the casino bar, if someone else picked up the folio, noticed a tip in it, the folio was given to the person serving us.

I guess I don't feel like Lace as I feel the servers deserve more than the piddly amount they are given with the package. I know if I paid per drink, I'd be tipping a whole lot more. JMO.

My Lido server said he got the tips when I asked on our last cruise, they were not pooled. I did not have Cheers. I did tip extra and seemed to get better service than others around me, never lacked a drink.

How did you tip?

Cash tips are not pooled. Anything on the receipt is pooled. Source: John Heald

Want to make sure the server/bartender gets the whole tip? Remove it from the slip and pay it all in cash.

Normal 15% on the slip plus cash.

I always tip the servers in cash for that reason if you write a tip on the slip it goes into the tipping pool and is shared.

If I plan on being on the pool deck all day on seadays (which I do) I will make sure a server gets $5-$10 cash at the start of the day.

Call me a tightwad but if I've already been "forced" to pay a 15% tip, then that's it. No additional dipping into my pocket. And by the way I have never found it difficult to flag down a bar runner when I need another drink.

I tend to tip my favorite bartenders an extra $5 or $10 on the last day of the cruise, if I've gotten excellent service from them. I tend to frequent a few bars and generally find that a few of them will come to know me and what I drink, so I believe in singling out those bartenders with a little extra. It pays off if you ever bump into one on a future sailing!

As a group of 4 to 6 ppl we usually tip an extra $20 to the wait staff of the areas where we spend a lot of time, Red Frog Pub, Alchemy, Havana Bar, Casino Bar. Usually by the second day we know where we are going to be hanging out and the wait staff is a determining factor. They enjoy the extra cash and we get awesome service.
