A Complete Guide for New Smoking Areas on NCL vessels

Just remember this post is about smoking areas....not to argue about if you are for or against smoking. Everyone is going to have info to back up their reasons and that is fine, but this is not the post to be complaining about smoking. This is to let those who do smoke know where it is allowed to do so. If you have every been to a smoking area you will know there are a lot of people who smoke on most sailings...so cruise lines are not going to go smoke free anytime soon.

Preach it!!! Amen to the bolded sentence

Exactly, I don't know why I keep getting sucked into responding to off topic comments rather than just reporting them for deletion. Something I need to work on!

Be sure to look at the smokers per unrestricted smoking area tab. I found doing that analysis very enlightening, especially for those that would like to follow the rules but also want convenience in doing so.

Wondering if anyone else can provide recent information on any other ship?

A photo like the one above is very, very helpful!

If you are cruising in the near future and can get a similar picture and post it on this thread, you would be helping the entire NCL cruise critic community.

Although not asked in this topic, Smoking on ships operating out of and around Australian/New Zealand waters is very restricted. There is absolutely zero inside smoking, including the casino. The assigned smoking areas are small and out of the way. Read of a family removed from the ship in a port in one of the Pacific islands for being caught smoking on their balcony. By the way, don't plan on purchasing cigarettes in Australia unless you want to spend $20+ per pack.

It's amazing that NCL doesn't allow packed drones to be brought onboard because they consider them "a danger" but yet I need to be subject to secondhand smoke while onboard which actually is a real danger.

Seriously :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thank you so much for the confirmation on the accuracy of the spreadsheet!

I am still not sure why NCL thinks that one unrestricted designated smoking area can adequately accommodate the anticipated number of smokers onboard. By my estimate, based on CDC data, that is about 600 people.

I am sure we will see plenty of complaints about balcony smokers on the Bliss (as there are on the Escape) because of an insufficient number of and conveniently located smoking areas. Bad weather may prevent smokers from using the one open access designated area on the Bliss. I can see people risking the cleaning fee/annoying neighbors due to inadequate accommodation.

Truly a shame for all, both non-smokers and smokers alike!

The smoking restrictions in the Bliss are great. NCL is finally fixing the smoking problem on ships. Restricting smoking to an enclosed space and an open space as far aft as possible is what they should implement fleet wide. No more of the stupid, “draw an imaginary line on the deck and you can smoke on one side and not the other” while polluting the air on both sides of the imaginary line.

If you are a non-smoker, the Bliss should be your go to NCL ship over all others.

If you are a smoker, do not under any circumstances book a cruise on the Bliss! The Bliss only has 1 very small, unprotected from the elements, designated smoking area.

Just wanted to reiterate that this thread is for locating designated smoking areas on each NCL ship.

Non-smokers benefit from the spreadsheet as well because they can use this information if they would like to avoid the designated smoking areas.

I am asking that everyone please refrain from comment unrelated to the data gathering for the spreadsheet.

Just to let everyone know, I intend to stop updating the spreadsheet if this thread keeps getting off topic posts that don't help with the data gathering. I have no desire to read through those posts  in order to find the ones I actually need for the spreadsheet.

Update: Bliss. Humidor is not a restricted smoking area. Anyone can some anything [legal] there.

Just off Breakaway, the areas I used:

Enclosed across from Waves pool bar deck 15 forward

Spice H2O bar and lounge area, deck 16 Aft outside and a plus no kids until after 7pm

Syd Normons Pour house outside only you can not smoke at bar put plenty of comfy chairs, couches, tables outside. Deck 8 mid ship

Deck 17 Forward Haven area

Casino

Cigar lounge, not sure if you can smoke cigarettes or cigars only as I didn't visit it

If there are other areas I'm not aware as these are what I used and worked fine for me.

Oh please get over yourself, this thread is for people looking for info on the areas of ships where you can smoke. You should stick to the Bliss.

My cruise on the Breakaway there were many Europeans and Israelis who spend oodles of money and smoke like chimneys, cruise lines are NOT giving up that revenue any time soon.

Thanks njkate for the confirmation on these designated smoking areas.

Everyone,

I am looking for updates on the forward open access designated smoking areas, specifically just outside the Vibe/Posh partition on ships with Vibe/Posh.

I also want to make sure the spreadsheet is accurate on designated smoking areas within Vibe/Posh because that area has an additional fee. I believe the spreadsheet information is pertinent to that purchase decision.

Hopefully someone else will be able to confirm or update on those.

Can anyone confirm whether smoking is allowed or not allowed in the casino when the Norwegian Jewel ship is in Australian/New Zealand waters?

This past April on POA our neighbor had a smoke early in the AM and late at night. I assumed she relaxed for her her first to get her day going and had a last before bed. I don't smoke anymore but it wasn't constant or I would have nicely reminded her of the rules. I spend a lot of off hours on my balcony. So guess unless somebody complains it is done.

While underway, you can smoke occasionally on the balcony. No one cares unless there are multiple smokers or you are running like a chimney. Just shut your balcony door and stay behind the dividers. Of course, don't smoke while you neighbor next door (down wind) is out unless they are cool with it.

Wrong, the rules don't allow smoking on balconies. If someone is upwind of me, I will smell it and complain to the housing manager.

The post you are quoting is 3.5 years old. That was right after new smoking policies were implemented (November 2014) and has no relevance to current practices almost 4 years later.

I suggest everyone disregard information/posts over 6 months old on this topic since the designated smoking areas/policies are fluid.
