Beverage Package Pricing Increase

Recommended Posts

You could have asked your TA or X to apply your OBC to upgrade the package instead of using your CC.

.

You CANNOT use your OBC to pay for anything before you actually board the ship. (It doesn't matter if you call your TA or Celebrity - neither can/will do it.)

The reason it is called On Board Credit' date=' is because it is credit to be used ON BOARD.[/quote']

YUP! If you upgrade before, the cost is all ours.

Agree with Karen's comment, wait till you get on and cash it out at the casino and pay the 5%.

Do you think they are beginning to understand the can of worms they opened with this? I know I will NEVER purchase a premium package at the new price. That is now almost $150 a day for the 2 of us! Ridiculous! That is about the price of adding a child to your room!

I think this is exactly what happened. The bean counters woke up and found people were getting more beverages of all kinds, not just liquor, beer, or wine.

Last cruise if we had of paid our own way just for juice's, specialty coffee, bottle water, sparkling water, and specialty tea, it would have cost us about $45-50 EACH per day.

So YES, they figured out the price was not in line and had to be raised. So yet again we will up grade to the Premium pkg, even if it cost us the $18.00 per day to do so. We'll get our return on investment for sure.

But Wallie

We balance you out.

We stay in Aqua so water and fresh juice is already included.

I drink vodka and grapefruit juice (maybe 2 or 3 at the most) all day.

My husband drinks water.

One or two Molecular Bar drinks before dinner and a glass of wine with dinner.

Before the package I got tea from the buffet before bed - now I get tea at al Bacio.

I haven't added it up but I'll bet we're way under.

We've realized that as long as the classic is included and all we're "paying" for is the upgrade we like the convenience of not signing for each drink.

All the previous packages listed JW Black under the premium while Red was on the Classic. On the list I downloaded from Celebrity.com's site today, now Red is mentioned on both levels but NO mention of JW BLACK!!!!! That's my everyday drinking scotch. Red is offensive.

They give with one hand and take away with the other! I'd be willing to pay for the premium package upgrade if it included what I drink but not for that garbage. Mess with my women, don't mess with my liquor.

That us to a tee!

The reason we sailed on the Ruby in 2012 was the "NO LIMIT" wine, beer, and soda carry on policy. ( Which has GONE AWAY! ) Our friends that went with us live in Flordia:D

So they had everything tagged and ready when we got to Miami.

18 bottles of Shiraz, 6 of white Zen, a case of Coors Light, and a 12 pak of Coke.

We bought 4 coffee cards and had a sea pass bill for drinks over $300.

Fast forward to the Reflection in 2013, Classic perk upgraded to Premium for $82.60 ea. We were in hog  heaven. The Equinox last yr, again Classic perk upgraded for $129.80 ea.

I wanted a better accounting of things so I got a print out of our account, 4 1/2 sea days, 6 ports, 9 pages of zero's ( well my $35 beer in the Gastro, and 1 Martini flight! ) 20-30 separate beverage purchases each day tween the 2 of us, and i know there were times a server would just drop something off and not ask for the card!:)

This year will be the most cost effective cruise we have ever taken. Our first time at Elite, (only took us 20 years since we sleep around ;) first time in Aqua, Classic, Grats, and as of now $850 in OBC!

We are so very thankful for everyone else that helps keep the cost of our cruise down

This old man is going to sample things we have only watched others have over the years in Nov, courtesy of the 1,2,3 program.

OK, I now return to my normal crankie ole self! :D

Cannot imagine JW black not being included with premium level. That is my everyday scotch at home also... JW black on the rocks was 10 bucks last week on allure so should be within the dollar limit.. I have already upgraded my 2 fall cruises to premium as lifes too short to drink bad scotch..

As a TA, I have just met with our Celebrity Rep.

He has confirmed that as of 20 April, the beverage package prices have increased.

The cost for the Classic Alcoholic Beverage Package is US$55.00 per person per day plus 18% gratuity.

The cost for the Premium Alcoholic Beverage Package is US$65.00 per person per day plus 18% gratuity.

However if you do have a Classic Package as part of a 123GO / Booking Perk, the cost will remain US$12.00 per day plus gratuities, to upgrade to the Premium Package. He has advised that this cost will be the same if you choose to upgrade prior to departure or once board.

This information is applicable for cruises departing from Australia, so you may just need to double check for non-Australian cruise departures.

Please note that this info is what I have been advised and cannot guarantee it's accuracy, however am posting to hopefully provide a guide as to what we are seeing for Australian cruises.

US $12 a day plus grats for the upgrade, not $10? They are charging Australians an extra $2?

I'm pretty sure that the rep meant USD $11.80 upgrade which confirms what "celebrity cruises" said here.

Which is the US $10 with the grats added.

Fair enough if they round it to $12, but not if it's $12 plus grats. ;)

Celebrity is not great at communicating within HQ and/or to their sales rep...so it's likely the rep just misunderstood.

BTW current AUD pricing for my booking is "from" $68.75 for Classic and $81.25 for Premium. That's an exchange rate of 1.25 on the US prices, not too bad since the current exchange rate is 1.29.

Not Too Bad -- really ? For us Aussies - $81.25 per day .

I can feel a headache coming on just thinking about breaking even  And for how many cruising Days !

If it was at current exchange rates it would be $83.85.

Anyway I booked a verandah with classic package included, which worked out cheaper than booking a inside cabin and buying the drinks package. Go figure! :D

Either I got a free drinks package or a free upgrade to verandah depending on how you look at it. ;)

Oh, and that's cheaper than what RCI wanted for their equivalent Ultimate package - $84 when we booked the cruise and $99 two weeks before embarkation date. We bought onboard at around $85 after checking the prices on the drinks lists and wine lists.

If this is correct, why US $12 ?

Isnt the difference between US65 and US55, only US $10 ??

Has nothing to do with exchange rates as all figures are in US $.

I could understand if was AU $12 as this is roughly equal to US $10.

This gets more confusing every day, I think we are getting a whole lot more inaccurate info. than what is actually factual.

I know we had an onboard report a week or so ago, would be interesting to see what is happening right to people who are cruising and upgrading onboard. At the end of the day it should be US $10 per day + 18% no matter if the Classic was purchased or "included".

$10 + 18% grats = $11.80 and I suspect someone just rounded it to $12. ;)
