Butler is the way to go indeed.

 

And if he is not 'able' to do it or whatever excuse, complain loudly to both the concierge (effectively his boss) and even the HD (his boss's boss) if needed. Though likely little change will happen, thus ignoring it is another way.

 

Note that there are awesome butlers out there though, we just hit a sore grape twice in a row on different boats, sucks and that happens unfortunately.

 

Thus a shout out to Jeffrey, who is an awesome butler, we miss you! :)

A few years ago we knew that our butler was crazy busy with a private party and decided to call room service directly. Long story short, when our doorbell rang it was our butler delivering our food! He had been notified by RS that we had ordered...he requested that in the future we contact him directly and from then on that is what we have always done. We've been very lucky to have had fantastic butlers these past 13 years.

On our last cruise room service wouldn't even take our order, it all had to go thru our butler.

Thank you for the information, I still am not sure what the butler does, thanks for that clarification. I will be in a suite for the second time next year with my sisters, none of whom have ever been in a suite. The first time I wasn't sure what the Butler was responsible for so the only thing we called him for was for more coffee beans for the coffee machine.

The butler's job is to take care of all of your needs and requests within your suite except for cleaning which is done by a cabin steward. The butler will help you unpack and pack your luggage, keep your suite stocked with beverages, deliver food, snacks, and beverage orders...serve you breakfast, lunch & dinner if you prefer to have it in your room, etc. The butler could also draw your bath and cater a party in your room. The butler is for things inside your suite.

 

The concierge will make specialty restaurant reservations, book shore excursions, provide reserved seating in the theater, and provide information of all onboard activities.

Draw your bath? Lol come on really? Whose gonna ask the butler to "draw my bath please I'm to dumb to know how to turn on the faucet" or "draw my bath I want to feel like the queen of England for the week"

Well, in my case he'd have to draw my shower - so not very likely, lol. But the point is, the Butler is there to help you with anything in your suite that makes your cruise more enjoyable for you. There is very little he does that you couldn't do yourself. You could schlep to the buffet and deliver snacks to your suite on your own for example. He's there to do that and anything else you would prefer not to do yourself. I'd bet there are very few people who would want him to draw their bath, but if someone did he probably would do it, and if that makes them feel like the Queen of England for the week, all the better.

Yeah I get that. Don't get me wrong when I go to hotels/casinos I ask for suites for all the perks I get because I like it but I just can't see myself asking for a bath to be "Drawn" it just sounds so uppity but I get it butlers will do what you ask doesn't mean when he draws your bath and leaves your room he's not telling the other butler what a witch he has in room xxxx lol

Don't you remember the 'trial' run they had for $499.00. The butler drew your bath and there was rose petals in it or something like that! I didn't pay much attention at the time since I knew I'd never do that.

I'm also having him deliver chocolate covered strawberries, put rose petals in the bath, and have a bottle of wine there. If all goes as planned, it will be ready when we return to our room in the evening from having some drinks and partying.

 

Before I read that they will do it, I wouldn't have thought about having that done for a romantic night with my wonderful wife. But, knowing it is available, it gave me the idea to incorporate it into a nice evening for her.

 

P.S. - As for being the Queen of England, she is the QueenofWylie...don't you see I am the King? LMAO

The last thing I want to do while I am on vacation is turn on a faucet and wait around for the 20+ minutes it will take for the tub to fill, then throw in some rose petals and bath salts. I will be having my butler do that for me. Returning from a very long day in port to a fragrant, steaming bath, complete with a glass of bubbly? Bliss, and one of the reasons I chose to sail in the Haven.

Actually under those circumstances I think its an AMAZING idea and I take back what I said. Shes lucky to have you as her husband. I have been married for 30 years to a wonderful man myself :-)

On our first cruise, we made the rookie "mistake" of calling room service to have a pizza delivered. Of course, it was delivered by the butler... With a request to call him next time. Lol.

 

Oh and regarding asking the butler to draw one's bath... I was quite impressed with the specialty bath menu in our suite on the Dawn! But did not avail of those services. Maybe next time.

When I mentioned to Jonathan on the Breakaway that we'd like to have breakfast on our balcony, he instructed us to leave the tag on the door handle before 4AM. He actually did bring the food and set the table out there. Seems like if you order from room service from a suite you butler brings it.

Do note that you can write as good as *anything* you want on that card. It is not limited to just the normal menu; if you want something special that you have seen anywhere on the boat, write it up and it should be there ;)
