Anthem balcony cabins deck 6 question

Recommended Posts

Here is a new link to what I believe was the shot that the link in post 4 didn't go to.

After looking at the photos I took on our Jan 3rd Anthem cruise I came to the conclusive that the above deckplan for the lifeboat davits wasn't very accurate. For one thing there aren't wide enough spaces between side by side davits to give a balcony there almost a clear view and actually balconies that have two davits in front of them have an almost completely blocked outward view as show in the shot below of the forward starboard lifeboats and of the two davits in front of the balcony for cabin 6172 taken from below on deck 5.

This is my davit position deckplan. Note that the shorter arrows rearward of the starboard hump indicate the shorter davits for the one smaller lifeboat there.

We were in 6218 which was a partially obstructed balcony and we had no problem seeing everything

Were the two lifeboat davits in front of the balcony for cabin 6216, the one next to yours towards the bow?

I didn't get any good straight on shots of the port side of Anthem as the starboard side or the bow was in towards shore at all of the ports we stopped at.

I'm not sure about the cabin next to us....sorry

Are you saying you were in DO balcony 6218 on deck 6 and don't recall seeing two large davits like the ones in the shot below in front of the next door balcony thus blocking your view to the right towards the bow? These two are actually in front of the second balcony over!

Our balcony was on deck 10 and I certainly notices these as shown in the shot of the lifeboat below us.

Balconies for cabin 6666 and 6668 overlook the center of the first large lifeboat astern of the starboard hump. They both should have a view over that lifeboat similar to the shot below when sitting on those balconies. Note this shot is slightly forward facing and is the reason the lifeboat davit is showing in it on the extreme right.

Hi all - I found a lot of things about the Anthem deck 6 for a DO; but, I am in a D8 back hump starboard 6646.

Does anyone know if there are any reasons this would not be a good cabin? Heard possible smoking area deck 5 - midship. Is that underneath me? Also will I have any type of obstruction? One final - anyone know how to tell if bed by balcony?

Much appreciated-

It's fine. Smoking pod is much farther aft. You are RIGHT by the elevators.

I believe the bed for that cabin is by the balcony as it is next door to a sofa bed cabin. These have their bed by the bathroom so sofa bed when used doesn't block access to bed so all one has to do count over from these in a section to see where bed is as cabins come in pairs or double modules. Even number over is same, bed by bathroom and odd number over is bed by balcony.

Here are a couple shots of that cabin's balcony which only has life raft canisters below it. First is at around 30 degree angle from shore and second from North Star.

Do you think that if you have just the lifeboat in front of your balcony that you can see straight out and just not down at the water?

Yes, if you are standing but if sitting on the balcony chairs your view will be similar to the shot in my post 33 above.

Also it depends where the balcony is as some are further back from the lifeboat in front of them, as are those on the two narrower sections on either side of the hump, compared to the balconies on the front and rear jump, as in out, sections where the front and rear lifeboats are. Those further from the lifeboat will have a worst downward view when standing at the railing than those who's balconies are almost right against the lifeboat in front.

I'm booked in a DO room 6224 for next year and was wondering if the lifeboats will be in the way?

We were just in room 6224 on the Feb. 6 sailing - aka " The storm of the century". Yes, the lifeboat pretty much blocks your immediate view. We never stepped out on the balcony: Cold temperatures, high winds, the "storm", but we could see plenty of water, waves, etc.

We felt the room was very well-located during the storm, as compared to forward or aft locations or rooms on higher floors that rocked a lot more.

Easy to use the steps to get to dining rooms, theater, as elevators often required a long wait.

Anyone have any info on 6182?

The balcony for 6182 is just off to the right of the shot above as it would have been blocked from view by North Star's arm, showing lower right corner, which was where this shot was taken. The last balcony on that right side showing is 6178 so 6182 will have a similar view over the same lifeboat, port second from the front, except the closest davit will be in front of the second balcony to the left when looking out.

As you can see in that area the balconies are the furthest away from the lifeboat so will have the worst downward view when standing at the railing but the outward view is fine.

We were just assigned cabin 6266. It appears that there will be no obstruction? Will we be able to see right down to the water? Also - there are 4 of us (2 kids) so I assume the big bed will be by the bathroom? Should I have any location based concerns? Thanks!

Hi mnh, I've just noticed a post you made back in July about cabins on Anthem. Have you already sailed or is this one you've booked on in the future? We are in cabin 6658 (as you say your friends are), leaving on 28th September 2015 ....soo excited !!

If you haven't set sail yet, I'd be happy to pass on some info about the cabin to you/your friend. If you have, perhaps you could pass info to me?

Regards

Gill

@FISO_Vids, my wife and I are booked in 6658 this August. Can you provide details/pics about the cabin and its views?

Much obliged...

Although there isn't a lifeboat in front of the balcony for cabin 6266 you won't have a view down towards the water as that balcony is in the narrower section of Anthem thus overlooks the Promenade deck 6 walkway and the roof of the outside eating area for Jamie's Italian restaurant as shown in the shots below.

First is from North Star.

Second is from the balcony of cabin 6292 and Jamie's outside area is just beyond the far lifeboat.

Do cabins 7640 or 7642 have any obstructions? Is one better than the other? Choosing between the two for my Anthem trip. Thank you for your help!

Those cabins are both Spa Junior Suites on deck 7. No obstructions. As they adjoin they have substantially identical views, so no preference.

We can look straight down to the ocean and straight out with zero obstruction at all? Thank you!

Hello!

We were recently on Anthem from May 5-14, 2016. We had an Obstructed View Balcony Cabin, 6294. Before we left, I did not have much luck finding pictures of this exact cabin so I wanted to come back and post the photos I took to help contribute!

So, if the photos are uploaded in the order I selected them the following is a brief description of what each is showing!

1: View of balcony while standing inside the doorway to the balcony.

2: View of balcony while sitting on the edge of the bed.

3: View from balcony looking straight ahead, while standing at the railing.

4: View from balcony while standing at the railing looking to the right.

5: View from balcony while standing at the railing looking to the left. (Note: The obstruction would be greater in cabin 6296 due to the davits being there!).

6: View of the cabin while standing in the doorway of the balcony.

7: View of the cabin while standing in the doorway entering the cabin. (Sorry it is so dark!)

Hopefully this is helpful to someone! Happy Cruising! :D
