Drink Prices

I was curious, since NCL has given out tons of free drink packages, have they raised up their prices in drinks, and what is the maximum amount for drinks that are included in this package?

Does anybody have the current drink menu/prices?

No limit on the drinks. We are waiting for the people that just got on cruises to return with the new drink prices. They just raised the UBP so drink prices are kinda up in the air at this point.

Thanks....I know its unlimited but I meant to say the limit for the price of a drink to be included in the drink package...that is nice of that person who is going to help show us the drink prices.

Everything $15 and under is included. This is most everything except very very very high end liquors such as Louis XIII and Johnnie Walker Blue. For anything over $15 you just pay the difference.

No menus yet, but the UBP has gone up from $54 pp/pd to $64 pp/pd plus 18% gratuity. Covers drinks up to $15. Anything above, you are only charged the excess.

There have been no reports of new bar price raises - at least not yet. So apparently current menus are still ones from April after the last raise:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2196711

Prices onboard this week were higher than those menus, but not significantly higher. I think beers are now 5.95 / 6.50. Cocktails still in the $8-10 range. No bar I found on the Sky had Don Julio 1942 so can't say what the charge was. Did find that prices would vary for the same drink bar to bar but need to go through my receipts to see what the variance was.

Specify the brand of alcohol you want or you get the cheapest house brand (no surprise there, how most bars work, but worth a mention).

Bar menus very skimpy. 1 page of a handful of items (themed) per bar; no pictures. We printed this out - became a HUGE hit and way to make friends; many bar tenders took it from us a reference as well:

http://www.grantmkt.net/star/NCL_UBP_Favorite_beverages.pdf

Bar service was mostly good and except for 1 or 2 instances of bad service found most of the bar tenders fast and friendly. Nice MDR wine list but no sommeliers to guide you. MDR bar service much faster than Royal Caribbean. Frozen/mixed drinks weak but tasty. Quality/consistency of simple cocktails was all over the map; did not realize a Grey Goose and Tonic or Mimosa could vary so much; when we found a good bartender we stuck with her (and gave a Hero card to the Hotel Director, and cash tips - only did a write in when I was in a hot tub and had no cash on me).

Overall I would say we had a good experience utilizing the UBP and bartenders were always happy to fill any order. Seemed like the entire ship has UBP but did not experience big lines anywhere.

Are all of the drinks you listed in that PDF generally available on the ships? My wife will be pretty excited, may even have to treat that list like a checklist :D.

Thanks!

Yes. I found that list on this website. DEFINITELY handy to have. Without it you'll probably only find 4 or 5 of those listed on a menu. Some of the bars couldn't make all the martinis, but no real problem getting all the other drinks. We treated it like a checklist. And man does having that printed out in color get you a fan club fast.

Nice list! Not sure my liver is going to like it though... :D

Mine didn't. We aren't big drinkers. Never would pay for UBP. But it was worth it for free. By Day 3 I more or less gave up on the sugary/frozen drinks and just stuck to a simple cocktail. 4 or 5 drinks per day is really my limit and if it was a week long cruise I'd probably be on water and diet pepsi by day 5.

I can see that. At 50 drinks on the list that's seven per day every dang day on a week-long cruise just to get through the list once, not to mention any repeats or more conventional drinks (or beers or wines).

Just call me Captain Cirrhosis! :D

That might just be the best post on the ncl board.

This would be heart breaking. I dont care for the other tequila options but LOVE 1942. I VERY MUCH appreciate you checking for me!! Thank you!!

I checked Outrigger (sorely underused sadly), Plantation, Captain Cooks, Pool Bar, Atrium Bar, aft bar by Great Outdoor Cafe, and the Coffee Bar. That's not every bar on the ship, but unless it's up top at Champs, or hiding in the Casino, I've got snake eyes.

The Sky is the smallest ship and runs the short itineraries, so even with "just paying the difference" maybe NCL didn't want to put it on a ship where almost everyone has UBP? I hope you find it wherever you go if you like it!

I found this on the Getaway at the Spice H2O bar, $11.50 per shot... I pretty much claimed the whole bottle after I found out it was only costing me 50 cents a shot...

I don't deserve the credit for that menu. I found it on a CC thread. It's coming on every cruise from now on!

My Favorite Don Julio 1942. I Was on the Breakaway in January and I looked at my bill It $13.01 per shot. That included the tax and gratuity.

I will be on the Gem in January with the UBP, I'm sure I will drink a bottle over 10 days on the ship.

Here are some prices off receipts as I dump out my bag.

Add 18% gratuity/service charge to each listed price.

Miami Vice - 8.50

Bushwacker - 9.95

Mojito - 8.95

Moscow Mule - 9.95

Mimosa - 6.25

Kahlua - 9.50 (Note: I ordered a black russian, they made a white russian with house brand paint thinner vodka. awful)

Angry Orchard Hard Cider - 6.50

Pina Colada on GSC - 8.75

Basil Cucumber Martini - 10.95

Daiquiri with Bacardi Superior - 9.50

Mudslide - 8.95

Lemon Drop Martini - 9.50

Grey Goose and Tonic - 8.75

Mango Meltdown 8.95

Dox Equis XX draft - 5.95

Sierra Mist soda - 2.49

Lavendar Patch Martini - 10.95

Woo Woo (rang in as shot, not drink, but served as drink)- 6.75

Dirty Banana - 9.95

Caiprioska (bartender suggestion when I said "I like Vodka...") - 9.00

There are more. Somewhere. GSC were all handwritten and I'm missing some so I don't know the charge for Grey Goose and Cranberry but probably similar to Tonic.

I think you would have diabetes before getting drunk if you stuck to the frozen/sugary/desert style drinks.

More than a few people had comments to make when trying to order a bottle of water and being told not on the package. But they will hand you a cup of ice water no problem. We brought a 6 pack of bottles on with us.

P.S. - We did not bring on wine because we had UBP but did see the desk to check in wine after you go through security. Whoever was on duty there had her back to people funneling past as she yapped with a co-worker. This is pretty typical for Port of Miami workers I've noticed over the years and on various lines; either stone faced and have a 1000 yard stare or they're laughing it up with each other. I have no doubt you could wheel a crate of wine onboard at POM without checking a bottle. Amount of smuggling required is probably somewhere around zero.
