parallax Posted October 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2015 I was at a social event related to my wife's work last week. I did not know anyone at the event but my wife introduced me to some her colleagues. I was talking with with one young couple about their upcoming vacation plans. They were going on RCCI and it was there first cruise. They were excited and I told them about my cruise experiences and the fact we we going on the MSC Divina in the summer. I was telling them about the Yacht Club when another one of their colleagues jumped in on the conversation. He said I was making a huge mistake and should go on Celebrity. He told me about "Modern Luxury" and all the great things about Celebrity. He went on and on for about 5 minutes about how Celebrity was the best. Finally, I interrupted him and said thank for your insight but we have been on numerous cruises with Celebrity. We are diversifying our experience and will cruise on Celebrity again. When I mentioned this conversation to my wife, she stated that he was the company know it all. He is this way on many topics.

morbihan Posted October 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2015 We are going to try MSC Yacht Club too. Got fed up of Celebrity. Trying Cunard in a couple of weeks. Whatever we do, it is going to be last minute. Pay and go!
vedettes1 Posted October 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2015 Apologies for highjacking, but I have to say that Morbihan is one of our favorite places in the world. We were on Ria d'Etel last month and will be again next spring.
parallax Posted October 29, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted October 29, 2015 We sailed in the YC last April. We really enjoyed it and made some new friends who we are going to cruise with this summer. We like both MSC and Celebrity for different reasons. We were experiencing a little Celebrity fatigue when planning for the last trip and decided to try MSC. WEGL81 Posted October 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2015 I'm not sure of the point of this post. There are people who are snobbish about anything and everything in life. Sounds like the person described here was one of those type of people. The discussion could have been about wine :)
morbihan Posted October 29, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2015 Glad to hear that you like Morbihan. I have been here just over 20 years living about half way between the two coasts. Best of both worlds but I admit that we prefer the top one. Paimpol and the coast around to Brest.
helen haywood Posted October 29, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2015 I've sailed Divina (although not in YC!) I thought the food was wonderful and the entertainment really great. Have a great time! (And I'm Elite Plus on X...)
greydog Posted October 29, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2015 We sailed in the YC last April. We really enjoyed it and made some new friends who we are going to cruise with this summer. We like both MSC and Celebrity for different reasons. We were experiencing a little Celebrity fatigue when planning for the last trip and decided to try MSC. After 22 Celebrity cruises we tried MSC Divina Yacht club Feb 2014. Suite similar size as X S2 suite, tad smaller balcony. YC lounge, pool area was usually sparsely populated, quiet. Best to bring your own group to hang out. BEST entertainment productions ever I've seen at sea - get good seat EARLY thru YC priority. Dedicated dining was nice, think X Tuscan Grill level. Get there early 1st night because table assignment becomes permanent so negotiate for a good location. Some window seats have bathers in loungers other side of glass - Yikes. ISSUE: then, kids sailed free and if you left your YC "compound' you were in crowded noisy family/kids in non-YC public areas. $ for $, especially with X suites now having Luminae dedicated dining, we will stick with Celebrity. Last I looked, Reflection had 86% C-critic reviewers recommending, Divina 63% (of course YC'ers would be underrepresented in Divina %) BTW - wifester (without me:eek:) just boarded QM2 in NYC and Police-escorted VIP limos pulled up - rumor on ship that Prince Harry returning on QM2 to U.K. Also forecast is for brisk winds and 20ft seas for crossing - apparently trip to US just ended was stormy rough. Actually, that was HRH Princess Anne visiting while in NYC. EM HRH Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, will be stopping by Queen Mary 2 while she is in New York to attend the city's Trafalgar luncheon which is an annual celebration of the history of British Sea Power and is hosted by the American Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy. Jayneykul Posted October 29, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 29, 2015 We are just back from Cunard in QG and due to sail Equinox in 30 days. We were very disappointed with what we got for the money on Cunard compared to Celebrity. We feel the food compares on both but for less than what we paid for the suite on Cunard we are getting suite drinks package Internet and OBC with Celebrity
tbmrt Posted October 30, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 30, 2015 We had cruised on the Divina (not Yacht Club) about 2 years ago, a few cruises after the ship first came to the Miami port. Were really afraid of this cruise after reading many reviews, but the ports and timing were good for us and we wanted to try some Italian ambiance. Loved, loved, loved it and the food was wonderful...Still think about the Asiago cheese and proscuitto! Plus, the entertainment was fabulous.
