Martini Mom Posted November 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2015 This will be the second cruise for our boys. They were much younger the first time, so we put their sail and sign cards/room keys on lanyards for them. For teenagers, which is more common....putting the card on a lanyard or just putting it in their pocket?
mjmalino Posted November 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2015 My kids still use lanyards, and my oldest is 17.
cb at sea Posted November 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2015 However they carry their stuff at home should work just fine! Ask them!
SadieN Posted November 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Could attach it to a belt loop using the clip from a casino lanyard (coil gets tossed). Clip it and put it in the front pocket, using extra jump rings if extra length is needed. Edited November 17, 2015 by SadieN
Wavesprite Posted November 17, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2015 We use lanyards, they went to Hot Topic and bought some cool ones from TV shows they love (Dr. Who, etc)
akcruz Posted November 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2015 There are a lot of teens that would not be caught dead with a lanyard while others lover them. Ask you teens what they would prefer, but be ready for a change once they see what others on the ship are doing once you get onboard. Both my kids gave them up in the later teen years, although my daughter found a short lanyard she did use for a few trips that she put around her wrist. My kids, particularly my daughter, are in the "not caught dead" group. If your boys have used lanyards in the past and found them convenient, they might want them again. Or they may have reached that age where they think lanyards are just for kids. Best to ASK them!
topspot Posted November 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2015 Our DD kept her card on a lanyard, which she kept in the back pocket of her jeans or in her purse. The lanyard made it easier to find the card:D

Martini Mom Posted November 29, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted November 29, 2015 Thanks for the ideas everyone! My 18 yr old wants to use his lanyard, mostly because he has a new Oakley lanyard that he loves. My 15 yr old wants to put it in his pocket. I don't fully trust him to keep track of it. so I think I'll have him put it on that bungy cord thing from the casino so he can keep it in his pocket, but attach it to his belt loop. mjmalino Posted December 3, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 3, 2015 My kids have always used lanyards on cruises. Even now as teens, they are ok with them, now, my kids high school required that they were their school IDs every day on, you guessed it, lanyards, so they have become very comfortable with them.
