Pricilla and other age appropriate shows

I'm just off the Epic.... I loved the ship and had fab time despite the weather.

However, one of my few gripes was that NCL allowed parents to take their kids to see Pricilla despite advertising it as not being suitable for children or the easily offended.

I'm certainly not a prude or easily offended and loved the show

but I was really annoyed to see how many children were in the audience whilst there were adults in the stand by queue wanting to see the show and who would have appreciated the humour.

Surely if NCL advertise a show as not being suitable for children, then they really need to enforce this!!!

I'm sure if I'd have taken my 16 year old daughter, she wouldn't have been allowed a 'Spa Pass' so why should kids be allowed in to an adult ordinated show.

I agree, we were on the same trip. There was a row of six or seven kids just in front of us, ranging in age from 4 to 12. Kids of that age would not be allowed to see an 18 film so NCL really should enforce the rules on the door.

 

That said, the child in the show was quite young. I wonder how tha works with school? He was very good though.

I also wondered about the young lad and school etc!! I came to the conclusion that he was from a "stage school" and therefore getting adequate education.

I did overhear a conversation with a lady who was telling a hairdresser that this was her first cruise and she was there as a chaperone, so maybe she was chaperone to the young lad in the show😎

We sailed o the Epic twice in two months and it was a different kid both times. One of them was much better than the other; maybe the second one was a holiday replacement, or they sign child actors on for shorter contracts than the rest of the cast.

 

Anyway, the fact that one performer is a child doesn't mean that the performance is suitable for children!

we were speaking to that chaperone lady and she is in charge of 2 boys who play that child part in Priscilla

They are both about 12 year old not the 6 year old the cast boy is supposed to be.She told me she keeps the boys in the dressing room most of the time whilst the rest of the show goes on and indeed they really aren't on stage most of the play

 

I agree about the too many kids and in half hour leading up to the show there were several announcements that the show isn't suitable for children or the easily offended.In fact just before the show started there was a voice over from one of the cast for kiddies to grab their floaties and head back to splash academy

 

and still the kids remained!

The one we saw was really good. I agree that him being there doesn't mean the show is suitable.

 

I suppose NCL don't want to be heavy handed and "impose" the rules, but as I said previously, kids wouldn't be allowed into an adult film so I can't see the difference. They made several announcements before the show started so no parent could have been under any illusions.

This in the parents fault...sometimes people want to see sth and they take their kids wuth them...without realising that they actually harm their kids

I really felt sorry for the cast... I really thought they seemed embarrassed by the amount of children present and even if the kids that were in the audience were too young to understand the humour or had fallen asleep they were still taking up seats and preventing others from seeing the show.

On another child issue... Did anyone else witness the episode in the Bliss Lounge... Someone must of complained about kids on the dance floor during karaoke and the mother decided to have her say before her turn at the mic!!!

Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with children and it is a family orientated ship but I do think parents should pay more attention to their children and less on the free UBP!!!

You do realize that children under the age of 18 are allowed to watch R rated movies is accompanied by a parent, right? I've heard many people comment on how many kids went to see Deadpool.

In the UK it is illegal to sell a ticket to someone under the rated age whether they are with an adult or not. It must be different in the US.

 

Not sure what the rules are in Europe (where Epic was)

When we were on the Epic last month people got very odd when told children were not allowed into the nightclub,,,,,,, it takes all sorts I suppose!

I was on the Epic in October the first week that the Priscilla show started- I wasn't sure how I'd find it but I thought it was a great show and hilarious! It's got definite adult humour but at the same time it's not too crude. Completely agree though that it's not something I'd take my young nephews or nieces to- teenagers would be fine I think, or kids should I ever have them. Perhaps you should write in to NCL to suggest giving it a PG/ 12A rating? For everyone else though If you can get a babysitter that night it's well worth a watch if you like comedy.

We have G (general audiences, suitable all ages), PG ( Parental Guidance suggested), PG-13 ( Parental guidance, may not be suitable for under 13) R (Restricted, under 17 not admitted without an adult), NC-17 ( No admittance under 17) and X (porn :eek:) Except for NC-17 and X there is no prohibition to children attending as long as accompanied by an adult.

 

I would consider Priscilla equal to most PG-13 film ratings - suggested sexuality, strong language, brief nudity and mild violence. I am all for exposing children to a broad spectrum of people and ideas and would take a child of anywhere over age 9-10 to see it and then talk about what we have seen and learedt afterwards.

 

Many other shows on ships should/could contain similar disclaimers, but they have done so w/ Priscilla primarily because of the "gay" theme of the show and the complaints they have gotten from those "offended" by such.

In my lifetime, I've come to realize that most folks are stupid as hell....and that's something you can count on, as far as people doing stupid stuff! On a cruise, on a land-based vacation/resort, anywhere....folks will do exactly as they want, despite any "rules" or warnings....

 

You need to know that, going in, that folks will NOT abide by the "rules"....that's why there are no real "formal" nights anymore. That's why little children are in the "adult" shows...that's why kids are in the "adult" pools and other areas.
