Carnival future cruise discount

I was on last week's Valor cruise that got delayed and Carnival has given us a 20% future cruise discount. I was wondering if any of you have experience with using them as there are restrictions. I called a PVP and asked all of these questions but she seemed unsure with all of her answers. As you have to book the cruise and then request the refund, I want to make sure I don't violate any of the restrictions.

No Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, Australia - I was hoping but that makes sense

No holidays - How do I find out what is considered a holiday? The big ones, Christmas, New Years, July 4, Thanksgiving. Is Easter considered a holiday?

You need to sail by April 2, 2018 - The PVP she thinks I should have RETURNED by April 2. That is not how I read it. Can I depart on April 2, 2018?

Discount off of fare, not taxes - I get it.

Not transferable - I get it.

I have a name at the end of the letter but no return email address.

I was looking around at our options. We have kids so a lot of our availability is around holidays except for summer (we have a lake house so we usually spend most of our free time there, and its hurricane season).

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

We sailed the first swine flu cruise on Carnival. We actually got a 50% off our next cruise.

Once home we waited for our email telling us what we had to do and not do. Once we got it we found the cruise we wanted. We went on the Dream out of Pt Canaveral.

We had to make the full deposit and pay the port charges and taxes. Then what was left was 50% off the price of the cruise itself.

Carnival actually made it very easy for us.

So we also received one of these future discounts for 25% off a future cruise fare from a re-routed Bermuda cruise last October. I called in about applying it toward a November Magic cruise we have booked, and was told I just need to give the original booking # information, because the discount is tied to that. Everything you stated about the terms and conditions is identical to what we were told. I wanted to take full advantage of the discount, so made sure it was for a more expensive cruise (Southern itinerary in a balcony room) for the same amount of days originally booked. You do have to book the cruise and pay deposit before they will apply any discount and your PVP can take care of it for you. Good Luck with choosing your discounted cruise!

I was on the same Valor cruise (just got back home last night) have you all received the email with the savings and such? I haven't seen it hit my email box yet and we are already looking to book our next cruise soon. :)

According to the lady at the future cruise desk on the Pride, Easter IS considered a holiday. We had been looking at the first week of April in 2018 also. So, we went with a 5 day on the Triumph for the first week of April 2017 instead. We haven't tried to apply for the 50% off yet, so I'm not sure how that will work.

Ss70chev it said other than the exceptions you were able to combine it with "most" fares. Not sure if that would include casino offers or not.

Great! I will be on the lookout for my next casino rate deal.

Thank you!

in the past i have used one on spring break that included easter. don't know if it has changed. i booked over the phone and talked to a carnival rep and they said holidays bookings were new years eve, christmas, and thanksgiving. that was about 4 years ago. i have a 15% off a cruise that i have to use before 2018 and i was hoping to use during spring break next year. i guess i will find out when i book it.

Our Spring Break next year does not include Easter (April 16) but it does in 2018 (April 1).

I didn't get any email other than the one we received with updates on embarkation last Friday/Saturday but it has a link at the bottom. Supposedly you have to book the cruise then follow the link to get the credit.

yeah it is. the carnival rep on the phone even said that.

i don't think it is was like that before. i used a 25% future cruise discount on a cruise that came back on easter before and had no problems. i thought before it was just the major holidays.

As soon as the reduced deposit sale hit's again I will let you know how it goes because we are looking at a May 2017 cruise and as soon as I book we will be looking to get the discount added. I think the cruise runs into the Mothers Day area. Hope not I am looking forward to this cruise we are looking at the 8 day on the Magic. :)

I am hoping for a reduced deposit sale too. I haven't always paid that close attention. How often do they run them?

Ok, we got a Future Cruise Discount because of some issues on our last cruise in April. The letter they gave us provided all of the information to request the discount after you have booked. We booked through an online TA because of other deals they offered and I have completed the form for the discount but we already paid in full because we are only a month away from sailing. Will the discounted amount be shown as an OBC? If so, where will I see that? I just completed everything yesterday after we booked so I suppose it will take a couple of days to show up.

It should show up as OBC. If you use cash on your S&S account be sure to check your balance towards the end of the cruise to ensure they applied it first before using your cash funds. I few friends of mine had a problem on the Valor cruise with Carnival not properly applying the $50 OBC.

Our son wanted to go to Cozumel back in January for his 14th birthday. So we were excited for him as it would've been his first time there...well sadly the Port of Tampa got closed due to fog. We couldn't embark until the next day. So we ended up on a cruise to nowhere and a 50% off our next cruise. It did have to be booked fairly quickly, with holidays being excluded and it couldn't be longer than the cruise we'd booked. But Carnival was really helpful and we got our 1/2 off cruise..we'll be embarking on it next Thursday:D we booked Cozumel and Progresso for the whole family for Thanksgiving so my son will FINALLY get to COZ:D

Thanks! I normally book directly through Carnival so I can call them with questions, but I didn't this time....so I can't call them. I will keep my eyes on our onboard account.
