Empress - Cancelling Again???

Recommended Posts

I just noticed the first two sailing are showing 'sold out' over night. This is the same thing that happened just before the first 6 sailing were canceled (we were originally booked on the first one 3/30).

I am now re-booked on the 4/30 cruise and there were plenty of cabins available just before going 'sold out' over night.

I hope it's some kind of glitch, but I have a feeling it's deva vu all over again.

Given the very poor CS for the last cancellation, if this happens again, it will extremely hard for me to ever sail on any ship affiliated with RC!!

I called my TA and they called Royal...of course they said they do not know of any cancellations. We shall see...

don't believe them, our TA called before our 3/30 cruise when we saw the 1st 6 showing sold out, and they told her they didn't know anything about it...

I hope everyone gets answers soon. As they cancelled 12 days before on the last round, and Royal was still telling everyone the day before that they were sailing-makes me nervous. Hard to trust them at this point.

Exactly. Someone on M&M called and the rep said if they were going to cancel "it would be longer than 2 weeks before the cruise".....really? Don't they remember it was 12 days prior to the first sailing when they cancelled the first 6 cruises?!?

The way they are handling this and their CS ability to know what's really going on is disturbing at best. :(

Our reservation for the April 25 cruise is now saying "The requested reservation is currently being modified. Please try again at a later time." Making me nervous :eek:We were bumped from the April 22 and had a very difficult time in getting them to switch us to Brilliance-at full current pricing. Not going to be happy if they cancel us again:(

I was also on the March 30th canceled cruise with the 12 day notice:eek: now on the April 30th cruise that is still showing "Sold Out". RCI rep I rescheduled with had just found out about the cancellations when he came into work that day. No advance warning. I would be very hesitant to trust what any of the reps say.

Please, Royal Caribbean, don't do this to us again.

Ugh! If they are going to do it, then just please tell us and get it over with! The first cancelled cruise was for and during our anniversary. This rebooked cruise happens to fall during my birthday...so they ruined our anniversary and now quite possibly my birthday. We have four young kids and have never take. A vacation or honeymoon. It's not exactly easy rescheduling all of this.

The March 30 cruise was for our 36 wedding anniversary (March 29)!

Yeah, they just don't seem to understand these cruises are more than just a few vacation days that can be altered at the last minute without any issue. That's big one of my biggest disappointments through this whole ordeal, their lack of true CS!

Last time this happened, you could still login and see your booking. Future sailings disappeared early in the week with a formal announcement cancelling sailings on the Friday of that week.

I would not even waste time calling. The call center people did not know until the day the announcement came out on the last round of Empress cancellations. It took hours to reschedule my Empress booking to July 23rd on the Friday of the announcement as they were overwhelmed with folks like me. We were suppose to be on our Empress cruise right now.

On a website for booking cruises, Empress of the Seas is TOTALLY gone.

No cruises for May June or July.

It is like empress of the seas doesn't exist.

No problems on my laptop, plenty of Empress sailings listed!

I can't even imagine the frustration those on the Empress sailings :( all of April shows sold out when I just checked the RCCL site. I really hope it doesn't happen again. How frustrating and disappointing for those on these past sailings.

A IT person at RC said if we close the page without logging out when we are in our reservations, it will give the "modified" message. I don't know if this is how you closed your reservation or not...but maybe it is a possible answer.

That's true, it takes around 20 minutes for the reservation lock to time out.

Is it possible Empress sold out? I did read Fathom cancelled their first cruise because the ship didn't pass coast guard inspections. Maybe Carnival people rebooking on Empress.

But the Empress is not going to Cuba on the sailings in question. I understand the Fathom cost a minimum of $1,800 per person, so the people who were cancelled on that sailing had a huge number of choices for the same amount of money or less. IMHO, not likely to choose the Empress instead.

I've seen this happen before. RCCL has this bad habit of pulling remaining inventory of short, slow selling cruises from Miami, and giving these cabins away to a casino. None of those people show up, thus stiffing the crew in tips, but making it much less crowded for the people that actually paid.
