Breakaway spa suite ?

So I will start off with an apology if this has been addressed many times but my anxiety and not thinking straight. I originally booked myself in a mini suite and I have friends booked in cabins next to me. Yes I booked alone, it was my indulgence after a very bad year. My mom who has cancer, very depressed after losing dad recently expressed interest in going with me and of course I cannot deny her anything. Her prognosis has been fluctuating with a pet scan after cruise. I added her to my booking and arranged wheelchair for embarking/disembarking. She has a oxygen concentrater and dr's have given their ok. But still nervous in making sure her needs are met and the lines of embarking/disembark and anything that requires standing in lines or walking any distance. Although she is a trouper, she is an awesome woman. The regular Haven suites, are shrinking in availability and although i would give a body part still seem out of reach for me to afford. The haven spa suites seem to be more plentiful, do they offer the same services like butler that the other haven suites offer? I am looking for priority embark/disembark and room service in case she had a bad day. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My friends will help, but don't want to be a burden on them.

Yes - any of the H categories off the same benefits - BUT and I am not sure about this but some of the ships like the Breakaway do not have the haven Spa suite in the same area as the pool and restaurant (again depending on the ship) You might want to look if its an option to an aft Haven room I hear that those rooms have HUGE balcony's and probably more room for your mom to move around although I am sure the spa suite will be grand with just the 2 of you

Sorry I just looked back and saw that it was the breakaway u are sailing on

As pointed out, the H9 would not be in the Haven complex. You would have to go up there to use the private facilities.

One of the big drawbacks of a Havens spa suite is that there your Jacuzzi tub sits right next to the bed in the room.

Thank you Bird and Diane for your replies. I LOVE the Aft balconies! And realize now the pitfalls of jacuzzi. My primary focus right now is getting her from point A to point B. I was on the Breakaway in Oct if I can get her thru the embark/disembark process with priority and then situate her near an elevator so i can get her to what i think her fav places would be like the casino and to some of the shows with places she might need to rest between those places I will be all good and with haven benefits if she wasnt feeling well she would still feel comfort a less stressful environment with haven benefits and still allow her dignity in control....lol because this is mom and she is stubborn :)

The spa suites are on 14 foward, 2 decks below the Haven complex. The rooms are very nice. 1 thing I like about them is the fact they have wood flooring and no carpet. The tub will not be in your way as it is on the headboard wall and the balcony door and the chaise lounge are on the opposite wall.

spa suite

To the OP - Yes if you are in a Haven Aft OR Spa you will have priority boarding - I imagine (and HOPE) among the Haven guests seeing someone in a wheelchair will take priority - just polite manners IMHO - I have taught my children that they wait till people get off an elevator before getting on and above all else wheelchair or elderly get preferential treatment! I will suggest though you get to the port earlier rather than later so you both can be among the first haven people aboard - When are you going?

Thank you all so much for your information! Every post has been a huge help to me and I greatly appreciate it. I'm going to book first thing in morning and leave it as a surprise for her. She deserves that much and more. We are booked on the 5/22 sailing to Bermuda and we have a local travel agent that has bus service directly to the port.....barring any unforeseen activities in NYC we hope to be there around 11 am. My biggest concern has been making sure she has a great time, and being able to accomplish that with the less stress possible for her...now that said...OMG she is a PITA and will drive me insane...LMAO I will make my sister pay for this aggravation! :)

Hello! I have been on the breakaway numerous times now and I have to say my experience in the Haven spa suite was of course the best by far. The suite itself is not much bigger than a balcony (except for the jacuzzi) but the perks were fantastic. The Haven restaurant is a life saver, with so many ppl on the ship it is nice to have a quite spot for breakfast and lunch (especially on sea days). Butler service is great all you have to do is let them know what you need, I wanted a large ice bucket in my room by 5pm , juice and banana at 7:30am everyday no problem even will delivery a selection of DVDs. Concierges will help with any reservations whether it's a show, restaurant or excursion (they can get you in even if the restaurant or show is booked). Priority embarking, disembarking, seating in shows so there will be no uncomfortable waits. Yes the cabin is not on the Haven level but you have full access to the thermal suites. Since the bathrooms in the cabin are pretty small I found myself showering there everyday (you can just wear the bathrobe back to the cabin, many do it), should be great for your mom since there is a wheelchair accessible stall. Great choice in cabins, I hope you and your mom will have a wonderful trip! I'm cruising again on 5/1 unfortunately not in a Haven spa cabin but I did get a spa pass!:)

  • 1 month later...

Thank you to all who posted. The spa suite was a good fit for us considering the price for Haven's. LOL now I was told by my TA (and I will set her straight) that beds could be separated.....NOT SO! But it worked out ok :). The restaurant service in all restaurants including haven very slow. One really bad issue was after embark and eating in haven we went to room, they were doing work near the elevators and the toxic fumes took my mom down...needed to help to have her escorted to room. It was scary and in this day and age, that was not acceptable. They should have known. However...the butler Gian and omg so sorry cant remember room Stewart whose name starts with a G was absolutely awesome......I cant say enough about them both. They were so kind and caring toward my mom. She was ill during cruise so we had spent alot of time in cabin. The room was a good fit, because we had to spend so much time in cabin we used tv and movies, navigating channels really sucked. Service at all the restaurants we went to very slow and drink service their exceptionally slow. But staff mostly exceptionally trying their best....except la cucina....hostess rude. Casino staff 1000 times better then my trip in October. We ran into some corporate executives who asked our opinions. I had a bit of a run in with a manager at osh.....waited almost 20 min with not even water. Well my mom getting a bit ansty and a manager finally appeared and put all the blame on the server being new etc...well listen this poor guy was busting his butt . No no no....dont shove the blame on the wait staff.......instead provide him with the tools he needs to do his job. And I said so much...at end of day waiter seemed to appreciate and was jovial later and manager always stopped by when he seen us and very nice. I actually seen him interacting with a child and i grew to really like him. I had friend on board, life savers for me and the NCL iconcierge was fabulous.
