cdnguy Posted May 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Yes, for breakfast and lunch. Just not evening dinner. Rare Coral Posted May 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Yes - shorts are fine then. They just don't want you with a swimsuit or ripped up tshirts in the dining room for breakfast and lunch.
gizmo Posted May 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Check out the Hal board. It looks like they are now banning shorts for breakfast and lunch. Since Princess is owned by Carnival will this spread?
sue d. miller Posted May 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Well, I am all for Formal nite, but no shorts for breakfast and lunch is in the dining room is rediculous. Sue 7 days on Star Princess 10/
pattie63 Posted May 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Nothing wrong with shorts for breakfast and lunch. You would not believe the number of bathing suits I saw at breakfast (didn't go to the dining room for lunch -- kids ) on our April 1 Coral trip. riverboatgambler Posted May 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 9, 2004 I saw shorts in the dining room at dinner during my cruise on the Golden on 4-17. I was a little suprised since when I previously sailed I saw people turned away in shorts at dinner and lunch.
CruiseFever Posted May 9, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 9, 2004 riverboatgambler- I saw that too on our Golden cruise but I also thought that those people looked REALLY out of place...didn't seem to bother them though Happy Cruising Chris www.LifeIsCruising.com Next up: Caribbean Princess 06/26/04 Star Princess 10/24/04 Diamond Princess 12/22/04 Carnival Miracle 03/13/
riverboatgambler Posted May 9, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 9, 2004 I agree, they do look out of place. I know their mantra is "it's my vacation and I want to be comfortable", but I could not be comfortable being underdressed.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Out of place! Geez! We love to dress-up on formal nights,, but breakfast is a different story. On many mornings, we are grabbing breakfast before going ashore, and I always wear shorts on land. We have never had a problem wearing shorts in the dining room for breakfast or lunch, and this was even true on Radisson and Crystal. As to HA, I say hogwash. This line is nothing special (we actually liked Carnival better than HA) and I would have no problem wearing shorts for breakfast or lunch. HA is a decent product, but overrated in their own minds. westerdam42 Posted May 10, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Well said!! On my last cruise, I wondered how or why Princess let some passengers board. Well, that's just gross. LarryF Posted May 10, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We sailed HAL Zuiderdam last year and while we enjoyed the ship and the cruise, the negativity of the HAL elderly and traditional passengers would prevent us from sailing on HAL again. We always dress appropriate on the ship, but give me a break as for not allowing shorts ast breakfast. As for the hairy topless man, that might be taking it a little too far! Now if any of you ladies care to do so.....I might can live with that! LOL!
