Recent Vision Cruisers - Disembarking in Venice Question

Recommended Posts

Looks as though the posted arrival time is 6:45. Would someone please let me know a) when people were allowed to get off the ship and b) if we are allowed to carry off our own luggage.

Just read something on the Venice tourist board site that even though a ship may have an early arrival time, people may not be able to get off until 9:00/9:30. Sincerely hoping this is not the case.

Many thanks.

I was on Rhapsody of the Seas into Venice in May and you could walk off with your luggage no problems. I had no problems getting the 1215 flight to Abu Dhabi. Most of the ship including crew seemed to book on flights 1100 - 1400.

Thank you all so much. The article was pretty definite so I thought I would ask. My flight is at 12:15 and I thought I had plenty of time until I read it this morning.

P.S. to Biker19 - there's no self carry in San Juan. Got caught there trying to figure out another early way off the ship.

San Juan's got USDA checkpoint as well. That can add some time too.

Plan on getting to the airport as early as you can . You might experience long lines for check-in and bag drop. There is no clear signage for departures and gates. Take a taxi from the port. With a 12.15 departure I would not recommend the people mover/bus to airport.

I travelled from there back in June and it was complete chaos.

Cheers!

I always travel with only a carry on.... Does it mean I can't just leave (San Juan - self carry) the ship with it?

That was my point, they are not going to stop someone with carry on only - people have those all the time on the debarkation day.

Biker, who uses bag pack style luggage and always walks off with it.

Thanks, Joan. The taxi sounds like a good plan. I know no one can totally avoid chaos when traveling, but I do like to do whatever I can ease the situation.
