Rare BecciBoo Posted May 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2017 I'm coming very late to the Visa discussions....of course when we booked our next cruise last week, he solicited the card for both of us and told us how we'd get OBC, etc etc etc. Now, after reading all the disclosures, I find out they are actually totally worthless, cannot be combined with much of anything...no special offers or discounts or the WOW or virtually any special booking offers. ALL of our future cruises have some kind of marketing offer so we cannot use these bogus points. Just a warning as I'm sure many have given. I think you are better off verifying this with Crown & Anchor. I have an on board credit booked under a promotion and was told BofA points were fully combinable with any offer. I spoke with them 10 minutes ago just to confirm. Sometimes the terms and conditions sections are kind of hard to understand with ambiguous wordings. Sure, it's hard work to find ones within the price limitations after deducting all of the "sale" pricing, but it can be done. Also, I have never had a problem using the points for OBC. maryjaden Posted May 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 3, 2017 I have redeemed points for OBC on several occasions when the cruise was booked during a special promotion.
packedandready Posted May 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Couple of questions.. We're going to use points for $$ off our booked cruise and some for obc. Can I redeem for both at the same time or should I do the credit one time and then the obc? We'll have obc from these points and for onboard booking. If I remember correctly, the booking obc is nonrefundable..correct? So the points obc will be used first...correct? How far in advance to redeem? However, I'd probably do it separately so it's easier to confirm one at a time. OBC from booking onboard is non-refundable. They are supposed to use non-refundable OBC first. I've never had a problem applying my Visa Points for OBC to a booking no matter what promo it has been booked under. I'd rather have OBC because if not all used it is completely refundable from Guest Services without the 5% service charge like in the Casino.
