B2B question.

Hi

So I've seen several posts about b2b cruises and had a couple of questions about it.

Do you have to disembark the ship and then get back on? And do you get to keep the same stateroom?

And is it usually the same ports again? Or do they change? Cuz if everything is the same as the week before does it not get boring?

Sorry for the "newbie" questions. I've only been on 2 cruises (3rd ones coming up [emoji322])

Never done one but from what I've read here:

You are escorted off thru customs and then back on board

You change rooms unless you booked the same stateroom for both cruises

Some ships alternate between itineraries. For example, I cruise the Glory in October and it's Western Caribbean but the sailing before and after mine is an Eastern Caribbean itinerary so someone booking b2b on the Glory would do Eastern and Western.

Ohh so you do have to pack up everything and then unpack again?

Don't quote me (as I quote you lol) but I've read that yes you do. Your luggage doesn't need to leave the ship between sailing but would have to get moved to your new stateroom if you don't have the same one booked. I read that the room stewards have luggage racks that will hold anything you may have on hangers so you just take them from the closet and hang them on the luggage rack so not really "packing" them just moving them. If the same stateroom I'd assume they just stay there and the steward clean around your stuff.

B2B is when you book successive sailings. Some sailing are repeat itineraries.

Some have different itineraries like when it is repositioning on the 2nd sailing, or taking a new route.

Do you have to disembark the ship and then get back on? And do you get to keep the same stateroom? You do not really disembark, you meet at a certain place and they walk you through customs and give you a new S & S card You get to keep the same stateroom if you booked the same stateroom.

And is it usually the same ports again? Or do they change? Cuz if everything is the same as the week before does it not get boring? Only if you booked a cruise that way. We usually pick a ship that goes eastern carribean one week and western carribean the next week.

If you have a different cabin you pack up your stuff, leave clothes on hangers in closet and your cabin steward will move everything for you. If you have the same cabin, you will do nothing. It is like going to breakfast.

We are getting ready to do our 3rd B2B and have not had to changes cabins because I book early enough to be able to keep the same cabin.Around 9:30 of the morning of your first cruise you will meet in the atrium lobby with other guests doing B2B You will the be escorted off the ship and turn in you customs declaration form to customs and then get right back on the ship. Some cruises are a repeat itinerary but we have booked cruises with alternating itineraries. Once you have done a B2B it will be hard going back to a single cruise.

I've only done one B2B and was lucky enough to keep the same cabin BUT, there must have been some type of problem because it did not go smoothly.

We had to meet at 8:00 in one the library - several people were doing B2B - some with several children. So, we waited and waited and waited - the kids were out of control - playing board games all over the place and being really loud (blame the parents). Anyway, we sat there until 9:30 with a staff member coming in every 15 - 20 minutes saying we're almost ready..... Finally we were escorted off the ship, through customs & back on.

I loved the B2B and would love to do another - At that time the Breeze did a 6 day to Key West & Cozumel (I think) followed by an 8 day Eastern, then an 8 day Southern. There were 2 families that were doing a B2B2B - would have loved that.

We are doing a S2S (Side 2 Side) in October. We are sailing one week on the Glory and when it arrives back in Miami we jump off and then jump on to the Splendor. So we definitely pack everything up.

LOL, I would hope you have to pack everything up! We are doing a b2b2s in Nov. 2 weeks on the Epic and then jumping over to the Sunshine.

The answers to your questions depends on what research you do... You have to search for the cruises you want... If one goes one way one period, search into the next one and see where that one goes... The same room or not, same thing.. see if the next cruise has the same room as the first, thus, you can get the same room..

Hubby and I will be joining the B2B club in November. Unfortunately, we will have to change staterooms. On the fist leg we have a grandchild book with us so we couldn't keep the three person room.

I am curious how the steward takes the hanging clothing. Do the just take the entire rod? I was planning to take some of those foldable basket like things for items on the shelves. I thought since things were folded and grouped anyway it would be easier on everyone.

Does Carnival guarantee to wait for you on the second leg? On our last cruise we were very late into port because we had to turn around and go back to Cozumel for a medical issue.

Probably not unless I could talk them into doing a ship to ship transfer !! Yikes

No. We had some friends that were doing a S2S and the first leg was delayed arriving due to Hurricane Sandy. They got a full refund for the second leg and the airlines adjusted their return home flight for no additional charge (I think CCL has a "deal" with major carriers for them to forgo such charges in situations like this).

Sorry if this has already been answered. I did a B2B last year on the Breeze. They had all the passengers doing a B2B gather in an area on the ship until all the guest leaving were disembarked. Then they took us off the ship, walked us through customs, then to the terminal where we received our new sign & sail cards. We returned to the ship before the new passengers started boarding.

As far as the ports, it depends on which ship you're on. If you want to have different ports on your 2nd cruise leg, you must book a ship that has an alternating schedule. My B2B was first a 6-day to Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, followed by an 8-day to Grand Turk, La Romana, Curacao and Aruba.

I had the same stateroom for both sailings. If you want the same cabin for both sailings, make sure you check to make sure it is available for both cruise dates your looking at before you book. Enjoy!!! :)

The next time you do a B2B, wait until later to show up at the waiting area for the B2B passengers. They will not be ready until everyone else has disembarked the ship. I ate breakfast and hung out on the lido deck until they called for the last passengers to disembark. Then, I headed to the B2B waiting area. I still had to wait there about 20 minutes, but that's better than an hour or more.

I did a B2B2B (cabin change between 1st and 2nd leg) in 2012, and a B2B (no cabin change) in 2014.

On the first 3 legs, we met in Atrium and were escorted off the ship, and we could either go out for the day, or come right back on after going through customs.

On the B2B last year, there were so many people doing the B2B, customs came on the ship, and we never had to leave.

If you are changing cabins, it was correctly stated that you pack up suitcases, and leave hanging clothes in closet. I also chose to move my important things myself.

No, they don't take the rod. They have carts with rods on them, like bellhops have, and put them on that.

Do you have to recheck in?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

No, not through the typical way. You meet usually in the atrium, they walk you to customs, they look at your passport or bc then you are escorted back to the gangway where your pic is taken and you are let back on.

As another poster said, if there are a lot of Platinum ... Diamond, you do not even get off the ship. You meet in the Main Theater and you don't even go through customs.

How does it work if you do a ship and than another ship? Do you still have to do a staggerd checkin?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Yes, it is like checking in all over again. They do not recognize your previous cruise. It would be like me this Dec. going from the Epic to the Sunshine...2 different cruises.

Both Cruises are separate one from another. You get off one ship and take your luggage over to the new ship give it to the porters, get in line and wait to board just like everybody else. We have two sets of check in documents. We purchased FTTF for both cruises. Carnival probably has no idea we are going from one ship to another!

The hard part was getting both of the ships embarkation and debarkation to line up because Splendor goes on 8 day and 6 day cruises and Glory does 7 day cruises over and over.
