Rare patrice1 Posted September 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2016 This past weekend, at least 12 Cubans made it almost to the Marquesas, but had trouble and not enough supplies. They experienced delerium from dehydration while at sea and started stripping off their clothing while one pulled the plug on the "chug" they were on. 12 bodies have been recovered in Keys near shore waters and 2 have been rescued alive. The Coast Guard just pulled off their search for bodies. Very sad. It's much more dangerous than people think.

firemanbobswife Posted October 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2016 Again? Happened to us last Western cruise on the Glory but it was a lot more than 5. I can't remember exactly how many. It was the last sea day while we were at brunch. Thankfully the CG picked them up pretty quick so we could go on with the rest of our day.

robin13 Posted October 1, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2016 This also happened to us on The Freedom several weeks ago. The Captain announced via the loudspeaker that in the middle of the night some passengers spotted a boat in distress on our 2nd sea day. They picked them up and he said everyone was ok but they were in the infirmary. He made it a point to tell people that we would still make all of the islands so everyone was happy. I guess this is quite common but so sad.
