[LIVE] From the Serenade of the Seas 2-12 December 2016

It is about 6:20 am ships time and 5:20 Eastern Standard Time.

 

It is still dark outside and the ship is rolling a bit. There is the constant sound of "surf" on the pool deck from the water in the pool sloshing from side to side.

 

The Captain predicted a cloudy day with a chance of rain.

 

 

 

We set out watched back one hour tonight.

Merry Christmas, Jim, plans are set for Christmas eve dinner, will be going to brunch at Oceanside this morning. I've really enjoyed your posts, seems like you're having a great cruise. We're looking forward to hearing more from you!!

There is a lot of motion with the ship this morning!

 

Mostly side to side gentle rolling.

 

It is nowhere near "barf bag" levels but so much water was slopping out of the pool in the Solarium that they drained it! The main pool is still full and open.

 

Partly cloudy sky and rain showers all around us but none on us yet.

On previous Serenade, we had 10-15 ft seas and both pools were drained and netted going South. Once we were in the Caribbean Seas instead of the Atlantic, the seas were much better. We have a cold front here that moved in Friday and winds strong at of the NE. We are here in Ormond and it was cold Friday and Saturday, warming up now. Should be near 80 for your return.

What are you doing for entertainment in the evening? Production shows , movies in the small theater , trivia or music venues ? What are doing to keep busy ?

We are both in our 70's and having lived long and fruitful lives we are capable of entertaining ourselves.

 

We love being on the ships and doing nothing more than reading or conversing with new friends.

I had a light breakfast early this morning in the Park Cafe.

 

 

Later on I went to the Windjammer and got some rolls and butter for Judith and took that down to her. I also get coffee for her every morning.

The crew put on a nice show for us in the Centrum this morning, the "International Crew Parade of Nations."

We both had nice lunches in the Windjammer today!

Judith had hers mostly eaten by the time I got to the table with myl unch.

I forgot to mention that the shrimp was excellent!

 

They had peeled it for me too! :D

It is warm but we are alternating between Sun, Cloudy, and Rainy.

I have been surprisingly satisfied with the VOOM!

 

It is much faster than I expected and I can watch videos from YouTube way better than I can at home with our Hughes.Net Satellite Service!

 

Also keep in mind that I know what these things on the back of my little desk in our cabin were for and used to carry my own phone cord on board to connect up my computer because the Ship's phone cords either were missing or broken.

 

 

The VOOM System is struggling today because of the rolling motion of the ship. Sometimes the upload beam does not maintain the connection but it always comes back if I refresh the screen.

Sometimes some of the water re-circulation pipes pump yellowish water into the pool. It is the pipe in the background.

 

I don't know why!

I shot these photos to show you the amount of roll in the ship this afternoon.

 

Compare the cross piece in the window frame to the horizon.

 

It was a slow, gentile roll and not a problem unless you were walking across the ship.

We had our last dinner in the Windjammer tonight.

 

I really liked my Turkey dinner and the onion soup.

 

 

Judith tried several things and didn't really like any of them.
