Disembarking Coral late

How late can you remain on board? What are our options for breakfast? We have a 4pm flight on Delta. How soon will we be able to check our luggage? Would be nice to relax and enjoy for once, not having to rush!

10:00 to 10:30.

 

Buffet and DR for breakfast, DR closes at 8:30.

 

Check luggage in Ft Lauderdale we have found 3-4 hours prior?

You can't linger onboard. They need to prepare your cabin for the next people. That's how they manage to have your room ready for you when you board.

If you are disembarking in a US port, the ship has to meet the "zero out" requirements of the CBP folks. This means that all the passengers must be off the ship before the cruise line can start boarding passengers for the next voyage. Even on back to backs, passengers have to get off the ship (usually around 9:30 - 10) to wait for the ship to be cleared.

 

We will sometimes linger aboard until around 10, and generally do that on the pool deck where we simply relax in a lounger with our Kindles and some coffee. Once most of the passengers are off the ship (usually around 9:30) we simply walk off the ship, grab our luggage (easy to find) and then off to wherever. As to Delta, their policy is that you can check luggage within 6 hours of your flight departure time.

 

If you are at an airport with a Delta SkyLounge....you might consider buying access since the lounges are much nicer then sitting in the public spaces of most airports.

My experience has been that you are asked to vacate the cabin by 8 am, and off the ship in the range of 10 AM. So plenty of time for breakfast in dining room or buffet!!

You are expected to be off the ship according to your color and number tag. There are no ship wide announcements until the very end. Announcements are made locally in your designated waiting area. Last calls to be off the ship will start around 9:30/10:00. Ship may be cleared by 9:30 or 10:00. Once all passengers are accounted for b2b's can then be processed.

 

Consider using EZ Check for your luggage. Believe it is available for Delta. With this service you place your bags out the night before and then pick them up when you arrive at your destination airport. Think the current charge is $20 plus whatever bag fees are charged by the airline. Inquire at the passenger service desk.

You are given a form (mid-cruise, in your mailbox) to request a disembark time, and the latest you can request is the 10am block, which means they may assign you to either 10am or 1030am disembark. We were given the 1030am disembark (last slot) a couple of weeks ago on the Coral... They do request that you vacate your cabin by 830, but we enjoyed Lido breakfast and then comfortably lounging at our assigned disembark lounge between 830 & 1030

I hate to say it but disembarking is the worst:(

Usually you need to be out of your cabin by 8am and then sit around waiting for your colour to be called to disembark. There are people everywhere, with bags of various sizes (I have seem some truly large carryon items), the lifts are packed, there is usually a queue to get off the ship. It does not make for a relaxing end to any cruise!

As for having time to check in your luggage etc you will have heaps of time as you are off the ship by early morning. Not sure what time your check in opens but unless you can get your luggage sent to the airport you will have a lot of lugging around.

Have sailed the Coral many times both in Alaska and the canal. Due to only 1900 passengers its probably been the best disembarkation each time.

What Coral cruise are you referring too?
