I loved this cruse even with the unexpected flight home due to the big hole in the ship. The weather was not the best, but sure made for beautiful and dramatic pictures.

We are also from an agricultural area near San Francisco, more like 90 minutes out. We love being able to cruise without having a flight involved!

Most pictures were taken with Canon D7 Mark II on manual setting raw format and then developed in Adobe Lightroom. I also used my iPhone 6s and a Canon D20 point and shoot waterproof camera for the diving shots.

Wow those are fantastic pictures. I have been to Hawaii at least 10 times and never get photos like that. I better learn my new Canon 70d before returning to Hawaii this April.

Great photos! Definitely want to do that cruise on the Grand. I'm curious about what Princess did after the broken door. You said they bought everyone flights home, did they also pay for hotel rooms? Did they give any cruise refund or credit for a future cruise? I've read that all the cruise lines do that if they return to port because of Norovirus.

Depending on when people's flights were, they were either given hotel rooms in the Bay Area after being flown back, or they stayed on the ship until flying out of Honolulu (which is what we did).

 

We received both a refund of half our fare (minus fees) and a credit of the other half of our fare for (a) future cruise(s), though of course the latter is contingent on us sailing with them again. They also promised to pay for expenses incurred on the trip back. We finally submitted our reimbursement request a week ago, so it's too soon to have heard back about it.

We received are luggage fee refund today. We were on the 2015 sailing that had the fire, so we were on our 50% off cruise when this happened. Which made our cruise fare 100% free. Even having issues with the last 2 cruises we still had a great time and will continue to cruise with Princess.
