just off the vista i will try to answer any questions. i stayed in a Havana interior room number 5214. ate at the steakhouse, ji ji asian kitchen, bonsai sushi, and cucina italian. also did the thrill theater which was great. we did the 6 day Jamaica, grand Cayman, Cozumel itinerary.

Hi, in Grand Cayman, how does the tendering tickets process work? Where do we have to go to get them? I want to be off the ship as soon as possible. Do lines form early to get tickets? Thank you.

Not sure where you get the tender sticker. We are platinum and we were ready to get off the ship we went to the red frog bar where they had 2 employees working. When there was a tender ready one of them escorted you down to the tender. The location to get the tender sticker will be in the fun times the night before. You go to the location usually a bar or lobby area and they will be set up at a table. Everyone in your party has to be present to get the stickers. Go early because it will get crowded.

We just received an email from Carnival that doors do not open in terminal until 11 am for all passengers. Was that true for plantinum guests?

I stayed over in Miami the night before and over did it at the bars. So I took my time and didn't leave the hotel until after noon. I got to the port around 12:30 and it was mobbed. There was a line then went around the terminal it was crazy. Not sure when they opened the terminal sorry.

Do you have copies of the fun times? We are going November 2017 to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ochio Rios and I always like to check those out ahead of time if possible.

Sorry I didn't keep them. Honestly I don't think I really looked at them. I used the carnival hub app and really liked it.

i did the 6 day western Caribbean itinerary. so the first elegant night was on the 2nd night which was a sea day. the second elegant night was on the 4th night which was when we were in grand cayman. i did not go to the white party but i believe it was on the 3rd day the day we were in jamaica. i remember a lot of people with the white sticks that light up that night.

When is the welcome back party for returning passengers?

yes as others have stated it was on the last sea day. i believe it was at 4pm. we had planned on going to the party but didn't go because we wanted to spend as much time as we could at the Havana pool area that we could on the last sea day.

we had twice a day. when we left out in the morning or early afternoon we put the cruising sign on the door. and when we returned later in the day it was clean. then in the evening while out for dinner and the night we had turn down service. and would have the next day fun times on the bed along with the towel animal.

I think you quoted the wrong question source in this response. I take it you were referring to my post #88 above?

In regards to the steakhouse:

1) are the appetizers as many as you want or just allowed 1?

2) which steak would you recommend and how was it?

I have had soup, salad, app, entree, two sides and dessert to go. I have also skipped either the Caesar salad or lobster bisque or Onion soup and have gotten two apps such as jumbo shrimp cocktail or crab cake and beef carpaccio. The onion soup is very filling, so if I get it, I always get the carpaccio since it's so light.

I would have recommended the porterhouse, but it was taken off of the menu a few years ago.

We did the Transatlantic cruise last year on the Vista, from Barcelona to New York. Having been on older ships like the Victory, Legend and Inspiration, and enjoyed them, the Vista was, as you would expect, fresher and more modern. We were positive about the experience on the Vista, with a few caveats. The main dining room we found to be too dark in decor and lighting. It was clearly trying to go for the dark wood and muted tone look, but we felt it was merely dark and was uncomfortably hot towards the back of the dining room.

The casino was very crowded, too many slots and gaming tables crammed in. On the Transatlantic crossing the Havana Bar was dead as a dodo - will no doubt liven up on sunshine cruises with perhaps an overall younger crowd.

The main theatre was caught between two stools - with no dedicated nightclub, it was supposed to fill two roles, theatre and nightclub, but wasn't really successful in either role as opposed to two seperate venues on other ships.

That aside, initially we thought the atrium on the Vista was lacking the grandeur of other atriums, but we really grew to love the big LED funnel atrium. A very welcoming place to sit and people watch, we ended up loving it.

We likened the Vista experience over older ships to our experience visiting Las Vegas over many years. Older Vegas hotels were themed - Luxor, Caesars, Mirage, Excalibur... just like ships such as the Legend, Victory etc. Recently, developments in Vegas such as Aria or Wynn eschewed themes, for 'classier' more 'upmarket hotel' vibes. The Vista moves in the same direction as the newer Vegas hotels.

You still know you're on a Carnival ship, but there's a danger that if they keep moving too far in this new direction then eventually you could feel that you're in any modern hotel on land, in any city, in pretty much any country...

Still, on balance, we'd give the Vista 85 out of 100. Opinions, opinions!

Did you feel any vibration from the ships propulsion at night while trying to sleep? Are the Havana wristbands such you could lend to a friend?

DW and I are in Havana cabin but couldn't get one for our 2 kids (16 and 18). Was wondering if we could lend the wristband to them at times we are doing something else.

I have seen on other posts that they also check your S&S cards as too many people have the same idea. There is a sticker that says "Havana" on it.
