What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

I'm 70 days out from my cruise on the Escape on February 17 but have not received any communication from NCL about bidding on an upgrade. Is there any way to get on the list to bid for an upgrade if you do not get an email from NCL?

Thanks

As discussed earlier in this thread - often - there are a few reasons you may not have gotten it.

1 - Your TA is not participating.

2 - Your cruise is close to full, or at least the categories that apply to you. In that case, they may not send out any, or maybe to a limited number of people.

3 - You have some special sort of pricing.

4 - Lots of folks have mentioned they do see the offer when they log into myncl and look at their online messages.

5 - Could have gone to your junk mail

On the same sailing. Glad you got the SC. We are staying put in BA 10078. Did not want to change. Did you get a forward suite ?

See you in a few days. We will be in NOLA Wednesday.

Thank you, looking forward to meeting you!! The suite is towards the front but not facing forward, 11018. We would have been very happy in our BA also. I already think the balcony is the height of luxury. :) I bid because of the prospect of being able to put our kids to bed in the 2nd bedroom and have adult time. Usually on vacation we have to go to bed at the same time the kids do, meaning no later than 9pm!

I'd argue against your 3rd point. I'm a former employee and booked using my employee discount and still got an offer to bid for upgrades.

I include the suggestion of special pricing only because somebody came along here recently with a problem with that. Though they were told it was their low price, I personally do not believe it. All NCL wants in this program is to increase revenue per cabin.

In any event, there are surely a wide range of special pricing - so the term was not meant to include ALL special pricing. Guess I should have added the word CERTAIN special pricing.

Ship : Norwegian Dawn

Destination: Southern Carribean

Number of Days: 7

Embarkation: 12/3/2017

Original Stateroom: Balcony (BC)

Upgraded Stateroom: two bedroom family suite (SC)

Accepted Bid: $320 per person

Notes: Booked cruise online March 2017. We had prepaid all charges, so no extra taxes. Also-our previous promotion was 3rd passenger free-so we did not have to pay 320 for our daughter. We did not bid on this room at all-had bid on Aft balcony.

If you didnt bid on it, then how did you get it? I have a balc on a 7 day sailing, and the very bottom allowed bid on the 2 bdrm ste is $600 pp. Sounds like you got a good deal!

I got a call 11/30 from a sales rep from NCL letting me know our offer had not been accepted for the aft balcony but they did have the SC “one room only-have to act fast” for the max bid we had made for another upgrade. I had to pay immediately upon accepting the upgrade and called husband later (who was estatic). We have sailed on NCL and are bronze members. Also-i am the type of person who calls NCL a few times before the cruise to see if fares are lower since we typically book early. I had called in May 2017 and got $400 knocked off my original booking so perhaps

I am flagged by the sales reps for better or worse :)

Do you recall the number they called from? I never answer unless I know who is calling. Thanks for the info! Enjoy your cruise!

ok I have a question and haven't seen this answered yet ( apologies if it has been and I missed it) so I am from the UK sailing soon and have booked a mini-suite - I got the upgrade email a while ago and fancied the haven and have noticed people saying they have won it for bids as low as $500 - $600 from the same room as I am in, bu when mine came through the lowest I could bid was £550 - obviously this is around the $700 dollar amount, so my question is are us Brits being charged more for upgrades and if so do you think this will affect the amount of upgrades our US friends get??

The minimum bid varies by ship and date. A more popular port/ship/date seems to require higher bids. I don't think it is anything against Brits.

Actually last year I ran across some Canadians that got real good upgrades. Made me jealous. They went from INSIDE to full SUITE for next to nothing. Of course NCL ignored me !

For those looking at the 12/30 Escape I have been doing some tracking for my trip in January and they have had 35 Haven suites open for a while. In contrast the 12/16 ship has 0 open. So guess would be they will start moving a bunch of the open ones for 12/30 pretty soon.

I’ve been watching this sailing as well. Still quite a few haven cabins left. Good luck to everyone bidding!

Mock booking now shows four h4's left, with price dropping another $400 to $3499 from yesterday's $3899. With you and me, we keep our original perks, so that may have made your bid more attractive.

Did you get upgraded? The cabin next to me disappeared this morning.

We just got back from moving from BC to SC. Our daughter enjoyed having her “own room” which also included a TV. As part of suite perks-you get free access to the latest on demand movies including kid movies as well. Also-you have the chance to eat both breakfast and dinner in a specialty dining room, which was always very quiet and relaxing and lastly, received priority embankment and departure which was very nice to do with an ansy ten year old.

How awesome you had such a great time! I didn't know there would be a TV in the kids room. They will love that and the on demand movies.

No:loudcry:..not yet, but thanks for asking. I don't want to say too much on a public board until after the cruise, but I noticed they're down to two and lowered the asking price another $200.

(Be happy to discuss on PM, since you're already in and helped me with my bids. knlgraff@msn.com )

Quote miket11: “This question may have already been answered but I will ask anyway. In March 2017 we were on the Dawn, I had booked a mini suite with the free at sea promo ( 3rd and 4th guest free) about 10 days prior to departure I received and upgrade offer (no bid) to a 2 bedroom family suite for $600 per person. I called and asked if the total price was $1200 or $2400 since we had 4 of us in the room, since the 3rd and 4th were free it was $1200. So we took the deal. We are now booked on Epic in December 2018 same as before mini suite with 3rd and 4th guest free. After reading other post and seeing the bidding is listed as per person, are the 3rd and 4th guest still free during the upgrade bidding?” End Quote

From the Upgrade Advantage bid page: Only the first and second guests will be charged.

Ship: Breakaway leaving New York on 12/15/17 sailing

Lattitudes: First time cruisers (actually have cruised NCL twice on the Norway many years ago but doesn’t count)

Booked Midship Balcony BB on 10/12/2017 with two free promos and free gratuities and email to upgrade came on the same day

Submitted poor bids for H5 (Haven Courtyard Penthouse) and H7 (Haven Forward Facing Penthouse) of $450 each (minimum bid was $400)

At 48 hours prior to sailing, got emails that bids were NOT accepted

Bummer but still going to enjoy our balcony cabin!

NCL Pearl leaving New Orleans Jan. 7. Just got notice this noon that my bid of $1260 to upgrade from balcony to H4 Haven two bedroom suite was accepted. Earlier this morning, mock booking showed two on 14 floor, and 2 SC two bedroom suites on deck 11. All are now gone. Casino at Sea had told me this AM that it would be $2000 to upgrade to either room.

Wast that your total bid, or a per person bid? Congrats!
