Burger lunch was $15 per person and included salad bar, gourmet burger, hand cut "chips" (fried potatoes), onion strings and dessert (the incredible hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream or hot apple crumble with ice cream). So much food and so good....we never had dinner!

We just got off Reflection yesterday....3 night specialty dinners were $109 per person onboard. Our only regret was that we didn't choose more nights. Definitely a great value for us. We did dinners in Lawn Club Grill, Murano, Qsine. Also ate at Porch for lunch $30 per person which included seafood tower and had lunch at Lawn Club, the gourmet burgers were fab!

I hope the sea settles and your wife feels better. When we had rough seas and a cabin on 8 my DW went down to the Passport bar and camped out there. A low deck midship helped her no end.

We kind of did the same thing, although camped out near the Grand Foyer and sipped tea and chocolate.

So today didn't turn out like I planned or envisioned, but the thing about having a good time on vacation is adapting. The wind and waves were easily the worst I had experienced on a cruise and talking to many others, they felt the same. When I get around to posting some pics, I'll have one of the main pool area mid-afternoon. Maybe about ten people in the area total. It was intensely windy on deck, even in the somewhat sheltered areas. I did a couple of laps on the jogging track (with almost no one encountered) and gave it up as a lost cause.

Elysium, the scheduled show tonight was cancelled. We cancelled our Lawn Club Grill reservations as well. No way it would be a pleasant experience. In fact, we spent the evening in our room, for the most part, just having some room service brought in and watching Tarzan. DW really is struggling with the ships motion as many seem to be. I fortunately hit the genetic lottery in terms of susceptibility to motion sickness so I think it is kind of cool. DW hates me right now

Lost day? No, still did some things and truly nothing wrong with just relaxing and doing, well, nothing. We did get lucky and found one of those mini-alcove things along the window in the Solarium and hung out there for a couple of hours, reading or staring at the storming sea. Hit the casino for a little bit, played some bingo, and listened to music.

There are other fun activities on a day like this. Watching everyone experience the drunken sailor walk is rather amusing. I can say this because I am ex Navy and experienced more than one true drunken sailor walks :) The movement was pretty intense at times. Saw more than one person stumble. Saw staff members or friends supporting some elderly people at different times. But if nothing else, we all have an experience to talk about.

To get a bit philosophical, I put this in perspective while staring out over the rough ocean. Think of how many people made this trip, willingly or unwillingly, in little wooden tubs, no idea of the weather, knowing their lives were at risk, and probably looking at days like the one we have been going through in terms of the ship rocking as really good days. They didn't have stabilizers on the Mayflower, I am sure! So a little blip in a vacation is nothing. I have to say, everyone i talked to seemed in great spirits. Everyone was talking about the weather of course, because that is what we humans love to do.

Hoping tomorrow will be a bit calmer. If nothing else, we hit San Juan later in the day. We will make the best of it regardless. :D:D:D

Hope it calms down and you can rebook. Tho all the speciality venues are really good, the Lawn Club Grill is our favorite.

Very much enjoying your review. We are sailing this weekend, have been on the Reflection 4 times but still love reading about it.

Hoping the seas have calmed down for you and especially your wife :)

Years ago we sailed right into a tropical storm, it was not pretty, I was fine on my less drowsy dramimine and ginger capsules but hubby was laid out as were most of the people on board including some staff so I feel your pain. It was almost comical as Titanic was the movie playing constantly, um no thank you we don't need to be watching that!

Hopefully by today you are in calmer seas and can really start enjoying your vacation .

Funny, not sure I would want to see Titanic or Poseidon Adventure or movies of that ilk at sea!

Can you advise what venue is called The Porch, please? Is it complimentary or for a fee?

The Porch is up on Deck 15, not far from LCG. It specializes in seafood offerings and I believe it is a $30 charge. We haven't tried it yet and probably won't on this trip.

The waves and wind have continued with the Captain announcing 15 ft waves today. The good news is I think the passengers have rallied and making a good effort of ignoring the poor conditions. The pool was packed today. It is considerably warmer. Even saw people sunning on deck 15 which is much more exposed to the wind. Outside of the wind and waves, feels a lot more like the Caribbean vacation we expect. My DW has felt a lot better so we did "normal" sea day activities, although technically it is a port day. She had a massage appointment this morning and loved it. As I type this, she is relaxing in Persian Gardens. Spas aren't my thing so I am listening to some music in the cabin before getting ready for dinner and writing a little.

Had breakfast in Blu and it was as good as I remember. The croissants are to die for and enjoyed a smoothie along with a typical bacon and eggs breakfast. Service as always excellent. My wife went with the French Toast. It was good. Yes, we tend to share our food, especially on vacation.

Went to the casino again for a bit. The thing about cruise casinos is they have the worst paying slot machines in the world, for the most part. I know this because I worked a good part of my adult life for the world's largest slot machine manufacturer and we sold a lot of games to cruise lines. They pay less because they can and have a captive audience. Knowing that, still fun to play a little bit. Haven't lost a whole lot and have had reasonable amount of play out of it. I do have about 200 pts on their slot club, but haven't figured out what to do with them yet.

Also had the obligatory after lunch stop (standard fare in Oceanview, nothing bad, nothing remarkable, solid) at Cafe El Bacio, this time for some herbal tea and a sugar free chocolate cookie. Love sitting there sipping a beverage and soaking in the atmosphere of the Grand Foyer area. My wife found what she claimed was a great deal on jewelry, buying a couple of rings. I happen to believe her great savings of 50% still was more than she would pay onshore, but she didn't spend too much and why not? Makes her happy :)

The bad weather has delayed our arrival into San Juan until 6:30 PM. I was talking with a guy from the shore excursion desk who said he was the most expensive mailman on the ship. He was delivering all the excursion cancellation notices. Sue, the CD said they will make up with it by adding additional time to St Maarten tomorrow. As we had no plans to even get off the ship in San Juan, that sounds great to me.

Lawn Club Grill tonight to make up for our lost night yesterday. Figure LCG while docked in San Juan is the way to go. Still have two more specialty dinners after tonight to use up.

One last note on today. The weather this afternoon turned slightly better so went out to spend time on the balcony. It is covered by a layer of salt from all the sea spray of the last couple of days. We are actually hitting some rain as we go into San Juan so hopefully some will be washed off. I suspect they will do some cleaning in port. The salt makes it almost unusable. Time to get ready for dinner!

Thanks for the info. I have been on reflection several times but this must be a new option!
