NYHartChapp Posted March 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2017 It seems the departure time for the start of all cruises sailing out of eastern United States ports is between 5 and 6 p.m., with the exception of the Divina. She departs Miami at 7:00. Anyone speculate on the reason?
rojoand8 Posted March 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2017 The Escape also sailed at 7:00 when we sailed last Oct. they told us it was so that the Europeans were able to get to the port easier. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Rare All-ready2cruise Posted March 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2017 I suspect that also, the Escape and Divina are the latest to be added to the Departure Roster from Miami Port, therefore they would get the later departure times whereas ships who've been sailing out of Miami for many years would have choice of spots for their departures. Yeah, I get that. But Divina sits at Miami port for two whole hours after the others have left before casting off.

Darcy15 Posted March 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2017 Thanks. That makes sense, although I wouldn't try to fly from Europe and arrive the day of departure. MSC package together cruise, flights and transfers. The later sailing is to accommodate the flight arrivals from Europe. I have this package booked for January 2018 :) I sailed on Fantasia in January this year, from Dubai. Booked the package, with the flight arriving the day of the cruise departure. My first trip with MSC, and I was very impressed indeed. Everything worked like clockwork. Beautiful ship, lovely staff and amazing value for money :D
NYHartChapp Posted March 6, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted March 6, 2017 Thanks, all. Seems the consensus is that MSC is coordinating fly/stay/cruise packages from Europe and wants to ensure that they get to the ship on time.
sfaaa Posted March 6, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2017 You can watch the beautiful sunset on Divina as the sun slowly sinks below the Miami skyline to be replaced by thousands of twinkling shore lights.
