OASIS CLASS Boardwalk Balcony ... Which deck is best?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm new to RCCL and Oasis Class ships ... About to book a Boardwalk Balcony (most likely on Harmony of the Seas) for August 2018 when they release them this week.......and trying to get opinions on which deck is the best location as far as view/noise/location. We will stay up till around midnight or so, just don't want loud music disturbing us "all night" ... On Carnival, we usually try to avoid the elevator by staying a couple decks above/below the main attraction decks ... but it doesn't look possible on these huge ships. I like the "Eat/Play" perks of the Boardwalk balconies much better than the perks for the central park balconies ... but if you guys really think they are "better" then I guess I would consider one. Also, I realize that I can pay a little more for an ocean view, but I always get an ocean balcony on Carnival and I thought maybe the boardwalk would be something "different" ... just don't know what deck to choose. What is everyone's opinion???? Thank you!!

Well ... I would say besides eating, we would spend about 50% of the time down on the deck with the casino ... and 50% of the time on the pool decks ... so on CCL I was able to get a deck a couple above and a couple below ... but these RCCL ships it's not possible to do that so I'm trying to figure out if its better to get a lower deck closer to casino or a higher deck closer to the pool. . . any advantages/disadvantages to any of the decks? I'm a seasoned cruiser so I know to not stay directly under the pool deck cause of chair noise, or right above a theater or nightclub, but these ships have way more options so just trying to get people's opinions.... Thanks!

If I were choosing I would choose the highest deck 12 or below (there is no Deck 13) and furthest aft stateroom possible for the best view of the ocean and the Aqua Theater. Deck 14 balconies have some obstructed views of the sea due to the Deck 15 span over the rear of the Boardwalk. As far as noise I think that it echos pretty much throughout the Boardwalk so I doubt there is much difference where you are. By 10:00 pm it should be quiet back there.

We have stayed in 10329 on Oasis and will be staying in 10329 on Allure the end of April. We love deck 10 because it really is just up or down a few decks to get here and there. Saves a lot of time vs waiting for the elevators all the time. Many people say they think Boardwalk balconies are loud. We never experienced that. If you are up to at least midnight most nights you will surely never have a problem.

I too had the same delimma and finally decided that I want a BW view. My reasoning was that the ocean is the ocean is the ocean and I have always had a ocean balcony. Nothing to really see. I decided I wanted to people watch this time so therfore I chose a BW balcony. If I want to see the ocean i can always go to the outside decks and watch.

We had 9721 and 9729 on Oasis and loved them....we have 8321 and 8325 booked on Harmony in May...I am hearing that the very last rooms (most popular) some views especially on deck 10 are blocked by the slides that are now on the boardwalk for harmony but not the others...dont exactly want to open by balcony and look smack into the side of a slide...our friends on the oasis were way down at the entrance to the boardwalk on deck 9... 9695 and they couldnt see much...but nice room close to central park...just down the stairs one deck...

Here are two short videos i filmed of our boardwalk cabin 14-307 and the boardwalk area onboard Allure of the Seas.

Thanks for everyone's reply ... I'm still confused as ever as to which deck I should pick, lol ... but seems the consensus is that HIGHER decks are better??? Also seems that the closer to the "end" (as in XX11 to XX29) offer a much better view of ocean and aqua theater than the ones closer to the middle of the ship.

Any new opinions as to which DECK is better ... and why?

Thanks Everyone!

Hard to say which one is "better." Any deck you choose will be more than a couple of decks away from "everything," it's a big ship. :) There are 24 elevators for what that's worth, if you're not up for climbing 5+ flights of stairs at a time. Deck 8 is closest to the Boardwalk and Deck 14 starboard is closest to the basketball court. Other than that I would just go for the deck that has the aft-most available cabin, maybe start with Deck 10 and go up or down from there? Just a thought.

I picked 9329 last cabin on deck 9 closest to the Aqua Theatre. The higher you go the more noise from up above on the pool deck.basketball etc. We go on March 26th so I will report back.

Please do report! We are on 8327, one below, one over in May. Curious about the ocean and aquatheater view from there.

When we emailed our TA we specified being farther aft was more of a priority than which deck. We ended up on deck 12 as any other deck would have had us at least 4 more staterooms further forward. Being further aft means more of an ocean view and a better view of the Aqua Theater.

We were on the Harmony in Jan. 2017 and had boardwalk balcony 11329, the last balcony overlooking board walk and the aqua theatre.

We loved that room, the view of the aqua show was a bit hard to watch re the slide but not impossible to watch from the balcony. We did watch a movie "Sully" from the balcony was it was shown on the 2 screens to each side of the aqua area.

Once you left the balcony and went into the room and closed the door there was No noise.

I spent more time on the balcony that any other place on the ship. A new group of performers were learning the aqua show and it was amazing to watch them learn the show.

We would book this Boardwalk balcony again in a heart beat.

We have had this same room on the Allure and because of the slide it is a better room with better ocean view.

I agree with all you said except the quiet by 10 pm part. They had movies in the Aqua Theater later than that last week on Harmony. Most of them started at 10:30 but some started at 11:00. It wasn't too obtrusive most of the time, but the louder action scenes were much more noticeable. Plan on staying up until midnight or so and you should be OK.

I found I was kind of disappointed with the Boardwalk view balcony, even being on deck 12 and only 5 cabins from the aft. All day it was pretty loud out there. Not really a peaceful place for relaxing with musicians, shows, the merry-go-round, zipliners going overhead, etc. Late at night after the movie it was quiet, but pretty busy during the day. And with the Abyss your water view was limited. I wouldn't book one there again unless it was a big bargain compared to an ocean view balcony.

I wanted to switch our promenade room on Symphony to a boardwalk but DH was worried of noise. We're coming with our kids. If noise was only until 10pm then it would probably be ok, but if some things don't start until 10:30pm then his concern is valid. The rooms available are further from the Aqua theatre (think 05 or 07 was the most aft) but I guess these would still be noisy late into the night?
