I'd rather pay a cash amount :halo:in advance at the desk rather than giving my cc number. This will also keep me in check while on board and I won't go crazy. Can I do this? We used to be able to...:halo:

You don't say which line, but the majority insist that you register a cc with them when you embark. However, most will let you deposit cash into your onboard account, so that no charges will be made against your cc.

On Royal you can do your online checkin and list cash account as an option.

 

Once on onboard you will be allowed to charge up to $300 before you must come down and put money on your account. This will keep you from having to stand in a long line at customer service as soon as you board.

This is completely dependent on the line you are sailing. Most all let you do a cash account but some have a minimum amount you have to put down and some don't.

You probably won't need to put much, if ANY, "down"...most lines allow you to charge to a certain amount before they ask for payment. Many folks do a "cash account".

Carnival does allow cash accounts without a minimum amount; however, you cannot charge more than you have put on your account.
