bluwes Posted May 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Anybody any clues as to whether its best to wait?? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Unless you are a fan of fancy cocktails or craft beers I wouldnt bother upgrading. We have sailed twice now with the classic drinks package and found there are sufficient beers and spirits without having to upgrade. The wines were acceptable as well, nothing special. Also now they have changed the rules of only having to pay the difference if a drink is over your limit, which only happens rarely, then for me and obviously it's my opinion,Classic is enough
Kitekat Posted May 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Anybody any clues as to whether its best to wait?? For those of us in the UK, at the moment it's best to wait. Using the purchase of OBC as a guide, a block of $25 currently costs £20.50, making the exchange rate around 1.2195 where as this morning's spot rate was 1.2910, quite a bit better. On this basis, I would would buy on board and use a credit card which offer a good rate and no fees. In the mean time, I would continue to track Celebrity's exchange rate and the bank rate. If Celebrity's really improves, you can always buy OBC for your cabin and use it to upgrade on board, or put it towards other things like excursions. Any left over will come back to your credit card. jimzgoldfinch Posted May 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Anybody any clues as to whether its best to wait?? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Hi I suggest you wait. Whilst the exchange rate is fluctuating, it is not going to make a significant difference. My upgrade cost me $177 which on current exchange rate is about £137. A month ago this would have been around £141. If you have OBC use that to upgrade to premium. As already suggested you could buy OBC in advance but wait until the exchange rate is better. kevinyork Posted May 4, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2017 It's a valid question though as I upgraded online about 6 weeks ago using OBC. The cost to upgrade now has gone down by about £9 across the two week cruise so I was wondering if I cancelled the upgrade and then repurchased it would the OBC be credited back on cancelling for me to use again? helen haywood Posted May 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2017 I just want to repeat was Bluwes posted in case some people are unaware that the beverage package rules have changed. As they mentioned, Classic Packages now just pay the difference in a higher price drink. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I called Celebrity today, they cancelled my original upgrade to the Premium package and applied it again at the current rate, a saving of £7.24. Every bit counts.
