Is bottomless bubbles worth it?

Recommended Posts

The problem with BB is that it does not include water and milk and juice and shakes. My fault for not doing my research!

It includes juice. From the Bottomless Bubbles description in the Fun Shops (online): "This unlimited soda program lets you indulge in all-you-can-drink soda and juice for the full length of your cruise."

BB has been worth it for me on previous cruises, largely due to the convenience factor and the easy-peasy refills during dinner in the MDR. Money-wise it's a no-brainer.

If Carnival starts adding Freestyle soda machines (as discussed on another thread; they're starting it on a HAL ship), that will make it even more convenient.

Complete list I was just looking at:

What’s included?

Soft drinks:* Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Caffeine Free Coke, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Orange Fanta, Mr. Pibb, Barqs Root Beer, Tonic Water, Club Soda, Ginger Ale

Juices: Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Tomato Juice, Pineapple Juice, Grapefruit Juice*

For me it isn't worth it. With all of the food, the carbonated drinks just leave me with an overly full stomach. Juice is free at breakfast anyway, so I just have it then. If I want soda, I either bring a pack or pay the $2 for one. However, if you drink a lot of soda it would be worth it for you.

At home, we drink a lot of soda. On my first two cruises I bought it. However, this last one I didn't. I brought a 12-pack of Diet Coke for about $4. I typically started my morning with one (need caffeine, not a coffee person). As we were moving around the ship and hitting the pools and sun, I found myself appreciating water and lemonade more. When we stopped at ports, I drank sodas with our lunches and bought a 20-oz here or there. Sometimes I also had one in the cabin at night. I bought 1 can at the bar on the ship, and that one drink cost me almost as much as the other 12 I brought on. So for me - no, not worth it at all.

Carrying a 12-pack on was so easy. Once I actually packed them in my luggage before I knew (they were not boxed just single, and nothing happened, they weren't removed). Once I knew, I unboxed them and put them in the bottom of my backpack which was my only carry on. Easy peasy. And that left my backpack carryon with open packing space for souvenirs on the way home. Perfect exchange. It's super easy to carry a backpack and you're mostly just getting shuttled from parking to the terminal.

I can't imagine I'll ever overpay for soda with BB again. I'd rather spend my money on something more fun.

This is my thought. If I'm out and about on the ship, I don't want to have to go all the way to the room to get a soda. Plus, sometimes I want to mix it up (if I'm getting sea sick and want a ginger ale) and I don't want to bring multiple different types of soda with me.

When I was in the cabin I had a soda or brought a couple with me before leaving. If I was thirsty while out and about and didn't have a soda with me I just got lemonade, it's not like the soda in my cabin was my only option for a drink. ;)

We just got back from a 7 day cruise and we didn't take any soda with us and didn't buy any either. I lived to tell about it...imagine that.

It's kind of nice to not have a soda addiction. On longer cruises (14 days) we usually bring one 12 pack to share. In the hot caribbean weather, you really need to be drinking lots of water anyway.

I personally don't think it's worth it. I am a HUGE Diet Coke drinker (7-11 Big Gulps) lol

I cannot stand warm, flat soda, in a can.

It's just gross.

I'd rather just wait until I get to an island and get some fountain soda.

Would LOVE to find fountain soda on the Magic, if anyone knows. HINT HINT. lol:'):')

I thought someone said they have the "guns" at the casino bar.

I may have to check that out.

  • 10 months later...

I found out that, currently, not everyone in the room is required to have bubbles if selected (the way Cheers does). Was this always the case? Husband told me for our cruise last year that there was no way to pick only one of us (me) to have it. Was he wrong?

Also I wanted to mention per a lot of comments above; you can ask for "no glass" but they will open the can. Weird, but better than nothing?

As many upthread have said, its not worth it. The soda is warm, often flat and you don't get a full can. Much cheaper to buy 12 pack(s) and carry on. With the way we drink soda and me being an Orange Crush lover, I plan to carry on five 12 packs...even the 2 year old will have one under his name (even though he's not allowed to drink soda LOL).

It only applies to the Cheers package where everyone over 21 needs to purchase it. There was four of us in a cabin and only two of us got the Bottomless Bubbles package.

Yes, I said that I know that currently not everyone has to get it, but did this CHANGE in the past year. I need to know if we were that dumb that we didn't realize we could just click the "remove" button!!!

Trying to understand if I am reading this correctly, the ships don't have fountain coke, they only do cans? I don't mind walking to a bar, MDR, or buffet as long as it's fountain. I, too, am a Pepsi drinker and will bring my own. But, I can handle a fountain coke. Cannot drink a can or bottle of coke.

Correct, cans only. On the Vista and Horizon (and probably future ships) they have a fountain by the IMAX theater. Though once we were charged even though we had bubbles... but I think we never got the sticker we were supposed to have.

I don't think so. We did the same about 2 years ago where only 2 of 4 is us got the Bottomless bubbles........

No fountains. You will need to go the bar, etc for a drink.....

I found the Bubbles program to be worth it. I like being able to order a soda in the MDR, showrooms, bars, etc and not having to pay over two bucks a pop. Sure they drinks are severed from a warm can but I can live with that. Sometimes the wait staff when they realize you have the Bubbles card are not always Johnny on the spot to serve you like they are for those paying full price for booze.

If you can't or don't want to bring canned soft drinks with you, and you're okay with drinking Coke products, then Bottomless Bubbles might be worth it. However, we prefer Pepsi products, such as Diet Pepsi and Diet Mountain Dew. Carnival has a contract with Coca-Cola. So, unless Carnival starts offering Pepsi products, the Bottomless Bubbles package is of no interest to us.

Hooray! I’m a Diet Coke person and hate Pepsi! On my NCL cruises they only served Pepsi products!

I agree. I like the convenience of it. But I never had the issue of a server or bartender not wanting to serve me. In the MDR, my Coke was usually already on the table or brought to me within a minutes of sitting down. And the atrium bar, they were always quick even when the bar is packed......
