macandlucy Posted June 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2017 If I am eligible for a CAS discount on my next cruise, and I book it through them (taking advantage of their discount) and then I notice that the price for the cruise has gone down, can I call them up and ask them to reprice it or do a cancel and rebook? Or are they more -- you book the cruise at the current price minus discount and we are done, no NCL price reductions are available after initial booking? I would assume that you could at least cancel and rebook, like you could if booking with NCL directly, but I am wondering if I did that, would I run the risk the casino discount might disappear or something? Next question -- if I book an inside cabin with a CAS discount of 10 or 20%, can I upgrade to an OV at the standard CAS rate of $180 for the cabin, or does that apply only to comps? If you cancel and rebook, you are subject to the same restrictions (i.e. you get the promotions at the time of rebooking). The discount you receive is at the discretion of the agent evaluating your theoretical losses on the cruise. If your theoreticals change between bookings, you may not get the same discount. When I was comped an Oceanview I noticed that the OVs were close to sold out and the cost for my OA category was now close to a Balcony BD category. I called and they gave me the upgrade for free. Very interesting to know the discount depends on who you get when you call -- I wasn't aware of that. Also, good to know about the possibility of an upgrade if the price falls. Somewhere, rambling around in my brain, I thought I read something about CAS changing their policy and now give you the Free At Seas choices associated with the upgrade level when you upgrade, or is that just for an upgrade to a suite? Interesting side note -- last cruise we were on (just over a week ago) I booked an inside cabin in February through a TA (I usually book on my own, but had points on our credit card to use). I noticed a price drop (still before final payment) and called the credit card-associated TA to ask her to cancel and rebook. She said that wasn't necessary, that she could just call and get a price adjustment. I fully expected her to be wrong about that, given my prior experience, but she wasn't -- I got the difference credited back to my card. Our one and only Haven was a totally paid for CET comp and we did get all the promos on that one. (Haven was great, but would rather cruise more often than pay the upgrade ourselves!) The best piece of advice about CAS from reading this forum is "It never hurts to call and ask". I've been pleasantly surprised several times! And if you don't get a positive response, wait and call back another day and hope to get a different agent. Most of them are super friendly about answering your questions. If you upgrade into the Havens, you get all of the Free at Sea promotions available at the time you originally booked. Along with the Havens daily service charge. PP is $140 Admin Fee, $600 Upgrade, $211.66 taxes/fees (Dining Package incl) so $965.46. They no longer allow solos the single supplement on suites or Haven. You now must pay for 2 people or bid which makes you also pay for 2 people. Totally sucks for solo passengers.
