TMWOOD1012 Posted August 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Can someone tell me if there is an advantageous side to book on an Inside Passage Alaska cruise? Port or Starboard more desirable?
Shmoo here Posted August 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Can someone tell me if there is an advantageous side to book on an Inside Passage Alaska cruise? Port or Starboard more desirable? Is it a round trip cruise? If so, it doesn't really matter.
CruiserBruce Posted August 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2017 No real issue. You are not locked in your cabin, you are roaming the ship. The scenery in Alaska is all around you, and is "big picture" scenery...it doesn't require one special place to be to see the scenery. Lots of info (where this topic is discussed regularly) on the Alaska board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Honestly either side is good. You will enjoy some of the best views from the open deck where you can move from side to side of the ship with ease to see the beauty that will surround you. Clarea Posted August 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2017 We found it much better to be outside on deck than on our balcony.
Dcoy Posted August 24, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2017 We had an aft balcony and saw both sides. Don
easyboy Posted August 24, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2017 We go to the topmost open deck for a 360degree view.
xlxo Posted August 24, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2017 I like port side for the views of the port..... I like starboard on lower decks (oceanviews) for privacy.
Underwatr Posted August 24, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2017 I like port side for the views of the port..... I like starboard on lower decks (oceanviews) for privacy.Interesting. On our recent 14-day closed loop HAL cruise we had a starboard cabin and had a view of the pier all but two times.
marshhawk Posted August 24, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 24, 2017 We were on Carnival Legend last year, and were starboard . We docked port side three times, but it made no difference. We didn't stay on the ship to see a port, but cruised to see what was outside the ports. We spent the majority of the time in the front of the ship when we were in motion, but Alaska is so beautiful either port or starboard it doesn't matter what side you are booked on to sleep. Trust me, you wont be in your cabin , you will want to see it all! Have a great cruise! Alaska was our best cruise!
