angelgirl29 Posted September 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2017 am planning a cruise to Greece starting in Rome. Which side of ship would be better for views.
marco Posted September 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Probably makes no difference, depending on what ports you're going to and in which order. Whilst docked in the ports themselves, sometimes the ship will be on the left side of the dock, sometimes the right, sometimes bow in, sometimes stern in. And that area of the world is so beautiful, either side will provide great views.
CruiserBruce Posted September 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Welcome to Cruise Critic! There are few places in the world where it is critical to be on one side or the other, and many of those, you see sailing out, what you didn't see sailing in. Plus, you aren't locked in your cabin, you will be out and about, seeing things from all angles. Venice, for example (don't know if it is on your route or not), a fascinating sail in/out, you usually want to be starboard side sailing in, and port side sailing out. So, I would focus on getting the level and type of cabin you wish, and not on the side of the ship.
paul929207 Posted September 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2017 You did not mention it, but Venice is one of the few places where it matters. For a day time sail in, you want the right side. For sailaway the left. You will still want to go outside to see the other side.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted September 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Most of the time you will only see land for a very limited amount of time when entering/exiting a port. There is no way of knowing which "side" (if either) of the ship will have better views once docked. Regarding Venice, I'd never want to be on a balcony with a view to only one side while going into or out of Venice. There is much to see on both sides. Better to be on an open deck, preferably at the bow.

You want to be outside enjoying the expansive views and being able to change sides when necessary. Sometimes I just do not understand people. Rare Keith1010 Posted September 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Having done similar voyages I would put the emphasis on being more mid deck and not worry about which side you are on. Some of the best views will come from the open deck. Keith
Clarea Posted September 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2017 I agree, mid deck is a good choice.
Ashland Posted September 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2017 The true aft cabin corner balcony is our favorite....like the #1100 on the RCI Radiance class.
