sarcar97 Posted November 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2017 We are doing a AMASerena Christmas on the Danube cruise - starting off with five days in Prague before getting on the boat in Nuremberg to Budapest and then onto London for four days. Our traveling partners asked if we could buy stamps anywhere in the US for postcards we'll be mailing while we are gone? Second question is while we are on the cruise I heard or read that AMA will put stamps on post cards and mail them for you. Can somebody confirm if this is true. Also they said this was a "free" service or is it they are just charging it back to your room?

I would never try to search out stamps either in advance or at your destination; it is not worth your time. Even if you pay for them the shop will look after stamps and mailing. Rare gnome12 Posted November 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2017 I mailed my postcard this afternoon. No one asked my name or room number, so there will be no charge. Sent from my SM-N910C using Forums mobile app

caviargal Posted November 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 10, 2017 If you use AMA's postcards (provided) they post them for free. They will also sell them at the front desk for your own cards.
E316 Posted November 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2017 Good to know about AMA posting postcards for free. We have been on AMA twice and no one ever told us. We are going on Uniworld in June do they do the same? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nancyevans Posted November 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2017 Going to the post office in Europe can be a cultural experience- things are done so differently than they are in the US. I still recall interesting postal experiences in Bolzano, Venice and Garmisch. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Alakegirl Posted November 19, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 19, 2017 As I read the OP's original question, the answer is that it is very doubtful that you can buy European stamps anywhere in the US

Rare gnome12 Posted November 19, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 19, 2017 Even if you have to pay, any hotel or cruise ship will mail postcards for you. If you are sending anything else, there is a post office in the center of almost any city to mail a parcel. Nobody in North America will know the cost of postage, because it changes from time to time.
