Bringing Spirits on board.

We are taking a 3 week holiday in the spring next year.

We plan to buy 2 litres of duty free spirits at our departing airport.

During our 4 night stay at a hotel prior to our Celebrity cruise we will probably drink some of the Gin/ Whisky purchased.

Please can you tell me what will happen to the remaining Spirits when we board the ship?

Also

Is it best to pack them in our hand luggage or our big case?

NB we have the Classic beverage package so no intention of consuming our Duty Free once on board.

If it is found they will take it from you. Usually they return it on your disembark day. If it is in your big case it could delay your luggage arrival and you will be called to the "naughty room" to open your suitcase and remove the bottles.

 

Perhaps the duty free store sells smaller bottles?

You are allowed to take on board two bottles of wine per cabin on embarkation. That is it. All other spirits will be confiscated.

Never heard of any line accepting spirits that have already been opened so drink whatever you open or it'll probably get tossed.

Either drink it all or leave it for hotel staff. They'll love you.

 

Not only is it unlikely you'll be able to bring it on the ship, since it's already open, but it's unlikely you'll get it through security going home. No way can you take it in your carry on, and do you really want open bottles of liquor in your checked luggage?

We had an open bottle in a carry on once. Spent the night before in a hotel. My SIL packed the open bottle the next morning, not thinking. During check in they took it. We did NOT get it back. If you purchase spirits at a port stop, they will give it back to you at the end of the cruise.

Also where are you boarding, Miami won't let you through with an open bottle of water never mind spirits.

Yup, if they find it and it's been opened they will take it and dump it. If it's unopened they will keep it and return it the last day of the cruise.

Bought 2 bottles lemonchillo in Sorrento on a Celebrity tour. Had them in a separate carrier going back on board expecting it to be taken and returned at end of cruise and no one bothered just let us through.
