They don’t accept it until you are onboard. Remember, this is not for food it is just paying for a reservation. pablo222 Posted March 11, 2018 #78 Share Posted March 11, 2018 The bad news is that I can not use my credit card make a reservation for my wife’s birthday at all because we are not important enough. Hopefully, you will accept this and move on. There is so much arguing on cruisecritic, that I just wanted to agree with someone for a change. latebloomer56 Posted March 11, 2018 #79 Share Posted March 11, 2018 I love my OBC each trip with Princess. Don't get much from Princess now a days but we have the Princess Visa (hope this doesn't change) Baltic's trip we got 500. OBC from our points. We never pre-book anything so the OBC covers several items. We did some tours with Princess and with so many ports this credit was all used. Last year on the Ruby not as much in points but it covered tips and the day before the end of the cruise went to the casino put the last 80.00 on my card and used it at the slots :). Love extra money for the slots as I have a budget for the casino use only what I can afford to lose :). ONBOARD CREDIT is just that onboard enjoy it we do. MrMan Posted March 11, 2018 #80 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Spoke with them yesterday and restaurant reservations are still credit card or PayPal only. Sent from my iPhone using Forums You get yourself worked up on the most trivial. Trust me, your onboard account will be more than $100. With this attitude on the trivial, I can guarantee you your setting yourself up with disappointment. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
MrMan Posted March 11, 2018 #81 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Obviously some of you don't understand the sarcasm involved I.E.: as in taking ones business elsewhere He will be missed Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Haboob Posted March 11, 2018 #82 Share Posted March 11, 2018 No, it became real money sometime after your cruise. Princess did not consider it real money until after your cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Uhh... No, it became "real money" once you step on board. Maybe that's why they call it onboard credit? ::shrugs::
pablo222 Posted March 11, 2018 #83 Share Posted March 11, 2018 Because when Princess gives you something that they deem worthless, maybe it is time to go elsewhere. There are from time-to-time pronouncements here by someone that they will not be cruising on Princess (or any carnival corporation corporation line) ever again. Often, they are shortly back posting about their next princess cruise. They get really, really upset if you call them on their hypocrisy. Which, makes it even funnier. Personally, I am on a cruise-hold. Might be forever, might be until I wimp out and go again...

miss prairie girl Posted March 17, 2018 #88 Share Posted March 17, 2018 OK, so if I gift myself some On Board Credit over the phone with Princess, then reserve some Princess Excursions before we sail, I can use that OBC to pay for the excursions? miss prairie girl Posted March 18, 2018 #90 Share Posted March 18, 2018 Yes.... but why don’t you just pay for the excursions? Sent from my iPhone using Forums I am from Canada. When we booked our cruise, the exchange rate was 1.24. If I pay for the excursions before we go, do I still get that 1.24 exchange rate? For some reason, I thought we had to gift ourselves OBC at 1.24 and then use that to pay for the excursions. Yesterday, the exchange rate was 1.31 and would probably be higher in the Canadian banks. getting older slowly Posted March 18, 2018 #91 Share Posted March 18, 2018 Oh 5 pages...... I always know what OBC we have before boarding, and thus spend accordingly, ie drinks , restaurants cover charges, spa , excursions, so to use them.... yes I check our Account every couple of days, to see how we are going..... Yes I know one of the family have been on a cruise and not spent a cent on board ..... We work on about $70 per day per head... something comes to mind about a storm in a tea something.
