carmensmom Posted March 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2018 i know the bars have cigarettes available by the pack, although the selection is limited. Does anyone know if they have menthol cigarettes available and if so what brand?
Thrak Posted March 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2018 I wasn't aware that the bars sold cigarettes. The only bar that might allow smoking is the casino bar. Cigarettes may be available for purchase in the cigar bar and I know they sell duty free cartons in the store. Someone here on CC must know the answer to your question. I have never noticed cigarettes for sale at any of the bars and I "visited" all 12 venues on the ship on our last cruise. Perhaps I was just unobservant. Think in addion to the casino also that bar (Traewinds) beside the smoking area on deck 16 sells them by the pack for $4.
aknursemom Posted March 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2018 On the Crown cigarettes by the pack available for purchase in casino. $4.00 a pack and the menthol cigarettes were Marlboro Whoa! I don't smoke, but I know several people that do. A carton of brand name cigarettes locally is $90-$100. Are they seriously $4 a pack on board? Are the cartons that cheap? If so, don't buy your cigarettes in Alaska. Buy them on board!

I'm just curious but does Alaska limit you as to how many cartons you can return home with? I don't recall the cruise ship announcing anything prior to leaving the ship at any Alaskan port.
flamomo Posted March 17, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2018 On a recent cruise, someone told me that the single pack price in the gift shop and at the bar on the open deck was $5. Still a relative bargain, since US taxes are not added to the price.

No different than purchasing in any other State. However, many states have tax requirements for cigarettes which could apply if you bring in large quantities. If you purchase them on board, then they are purchased duty and tax free and purchased in international waters. The limit is 200 cigarettes.
