Naples Port Call - anything to do right near the port?

On RCL Symphony of the Seas and was wondering if there was anything to see and places to eat right where you get off the ship?

If not, any suggestions on what ship excursion would be best? Honestly, don't want to spend hours on a bus looking at things.

Thanks for your help.

Naples has a lot to offer, and also there are usually some shorter shore excursions. What are you interested in? Have you read or heard anything about the area that interests you? Ancient ruins? Resort-type shops and scenery? Museums?

Naples is a great port for lots of reasons, one of which is that you walk off the ship and you're in the historic part of the city staring at a castle (Castel Nuovo). There are dozens of historic and art sites within a mile of the port, not to mention restaurants and shopping.

Ferries across the Bay of Naples to Capri or Sorrento depart from alongside the cruise terminal. Both take about an hour.

Then an elevator or little one-euro shuttlebus from Sorrento harbour to Sorrento town at the top of the cliff for a lazy day in the attractive & laid-back town, tho I'm not aware of anything there of especial interest.

Or from Capri harbour a taxi or funicular up to the town for glorious views - especially dizzying vertical views waaaaay down to sea- level from viewpoints on the edge of town.

I have this same question. But am wondering if there is anything right off the ship (within a couple of blocks) that would be do-able for someone with a scooter. (Restaurants, shops, etc or just walking around.) Can you just go directly from the ship to town or do you have to take a shuttle to get through the port?

You can go directly into town. No shuttle. But there´s still a big construction site right in front of the terminal you have to "circumnavigate".

Thanks for the responses. We like to walk around and look at things, do some shopping and eat local food. Looking forward to the pizza in Naples.

If you want to try Neapolitan pizza, be sure to look for a pizzeria that is "accredited" by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. Like everywhere, there is good pizza and bad (tourist) pizza in Naples. Pizzerias that earn this accreditation are very proud of it and you'll see a plaque or sign advertising their accreditation. There are lists online of places also.

I've never used it, but there is a HOHO bus that departs from near the port (Piazza Municipio) and has several routes through and around the city. Some have reported it was worth doing. If you don't want to, or cannot, walk much, it may be an option to consider to see some of Naples. For others who don't have a specific idea of what to see, it's an easy way to get a general overview and maybe get off in a couple of places to walk around. Some info here: https://www.rometoolkit.com/naples_visit/naples_hoho_bus.html

Someone mentioned the Ferry to Capri. I agree with that choice. You should be able to get to the ferry without too much trouble. Then on Capri there are a number of little restaurants and shops right by the docks.
