kaymoz Posted May 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2018 With so many cruise search tools appearing online, it seems there must be one that will automate the process of comparing the various itineraries of different voyages in the same geographic area, across cruiselines. Do you know of one? Last month I made a spreadsheet to help us decide amongst about 10 different cruises for one particular area of the world we wanted to explore by sea. Each sailing was detailed on its own line, with a column for each of the port stops, and I checked each that was applicable. This really helped visualize what each cruise had to offer (or its shortcoming) and ultimately helped us narrow our choices effectively. But it was super time-consuming to create since I had to look up each voyage and enter all the info manually. I don't really want to do that again if there is a way to automate this a bit more! wheezedr Posted May 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2018 You now have made the first step to building your APP. I’m not aware of any tools currently that do this.
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2018 Closest would be cruisetimetables.com. You can research by departure port and time, or ports of call. EM
leaveitallbehind Posted May 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2018 (edited) As others have mentioned there is not an existing APP that I am aware of that can provide what you are looking for. The best tool I know is to consult with a cruise specialist travel agent - they would probably have ready knowledge of the comparative itineraries as they deal with the various cruise lines and their offered itineraries on a daily basis. Otherwise as wheezedr suggested, it sounds like you're on the right path to developing your own. :) Edited May 12, 2018 by leaveitallbehind

If you have one or two ports that you absolutely want to see, the number of available cruises usually shrinks fast. Selecting just a few ports to embark or disembark limits the number of choices very fast as well. Clicking on a cruise shows its itinerary. edit: wait a minute, I already told you about this site :) Edited May 14, 2018 by AmazedByCruising

Some bugs though ... it has me sailing from Skagway, AK all the way to Victoria, UK (rather than Victoria BC).
AmazedByCruising Posted May 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2018 That's pretty darn cool! Some bugs though ... it has me sailing from Skagway, AK all the way to Victoria, UK (rather than Victoria BC). There are also quite a few ports, especially private islands, that happen to be located at 0 long, 0 lat.:) I build the site because I couldn't find one that actually allows you to select ports to visit and I liked to try to play with maps. If someone would pay me to send customers who know exactly what cruise they want, I could fix the bugs :D but now I'm too busy with my real work to look for those. And yes, I think it's pretty darn cool as well and I really wonder why I still can't find any site that offers similar functionality.
