Baby_Bear Posted June 17, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 17, 2018 Both Carnival and Princess are owned by CCL, right? Broadcasting rights would be acquired by the parent company. If Princess is telecasting the games and not the other cruise lines under CCL, that's even more of a shame. Personally, I'm glad I'm not sailing right now. It wouldn't even have occurred to me that Carnival wouldn't be showing the games, you just assume that for a sporting event of the magnitude of the World Cup, the games would be shown 100%. Rare Saint Greg Posted June 24, 2018 #28 Share Posted June 24, 2018 I just heard the USA isn't even in this thing. I would imagine that would greatly reduce the already low level of interest in it among Americans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rare Saint Greg Posted June 24, 2018 #32 Share Posted June 24, 2018 read the sports section? watch ESPN? It's been pretty publicized. Nope. There’s something called the internet where you can select what you want to watch and read.
tidecat Posted June 24, 2018 #33 Share Posted June 24, 2018 I am so surprised that Carnival won't be broadcasting the World Cup games live. It's only the biggest sporting event in the world! Wonder if RCL or NCL are showing the games.. IIRC Carnival was not able to get rights to the World Series either. It sounds like the problem may be FOX. CruisingViper Posted June 25, 2018 #35 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Anyone have any updates? Yes, Germany and Brazil finally won a match while England destroyed Panama 6-1. But in all seriousness, I'll try to update on the status of the games being shown on Carnival when I get on my cruise next week.
ly26 Posted June 27, 2018 Author #36 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Well I'm home and we could watch games in the sports bar on Sunshine. Limited seating so if we watched, we got there early to get a seat.

JenSDCA Posted July 1, 2018 #41 Share Posted July 1, 2018 On our Glory sailing, we watched in the sports bar. Caveat: the sports bar is open noon to midnight on sea days, and not while in port. When we stopped in Grand Cayman, for example, the bar opened at 3, when we sailed. Considering that most of the games are early in the day, that meant that we could only watch on sea days. As always, ymmv.
