Drinks on Us

We booked Seaside for next March, Fantastica experience. Unbeknownst to us, we booked under the Drinks on Us promo, but we'd rather have the 12 drink tickets per person. We don't drink alcohol or coffees. Think we can trade for the drink tickets, where we can use them for gelato?

I asked this question a month ago and got no response...with this promotion, when you are still in port having a drink I realised that you are charged the 15% gratuity but is there a local tax on top of that because you are still in port? NCL does this but not sure about MSC.

It's my understanding that it has more to do with the ports (you may be speaking of the embarkation port) than the cruise line. It's the local laws.

I called to see if I could get the Drinks on Us promo taken off and they told me that I would have to pay full brochure price - twice the amount - to take it off and to pay full deposit per person instead of $99 per. Not starting off on a very positive note, I've got to say.

Not applicable out of Miami I believe.

We upgraded from the Drinks on us to the Classic package for $18 pp per day. That takes care of the frozen drinks we like. Also, with the Drinks on Us you pay a gratuity on each drink. With the Classic package that we upgraded to, the gratuity is included so that makes a big difference.

We'll be on the Seaside in August. Were you offered the upgrade ahead of time or when you boarded? Maybe we should contact MSC ahead of time? Did you think it was worth it to upgrade?

Is it because MSC is a foreign ship? Because ncl charged us local taxes when in port in miami.

Unless you're on the Pride of America, they are all foreign ships.

That aside, NCL doesn't charge you, the local government does. NCL simply collects and passes it on.
