kskelley40 #1 Posted July 9, 2018 We are visiting Cartegena in January...have been there before but a little fuzzy on it. Can you walk from the ship to the fort, old/walled city? We are walkers and like to just explore ports on our own. Is it possible to walk to the main attractions without having to get a taxi? We are in port for 8 hours so time is not an issue.

riffatsea #3 Posted July 13, 2018 Hi, I have been told by locals to take a taxi from the cruise port to the fort first thing when you get off the ship. Spend time there and then taxi to the main square Plaza Bolivar. It looks like the walk would be about 2 +miles from the port but I am told it is often very hot so hard to walk that far even if you are used to doing that much walking at home. Like in Mexico, set the taxi price before getting into the cab. It should be about $5 USA or 8,000 COP(about 2800 COP=$1USA)

riffatsea #5 Posted August 25, 2018 @tkere, Hi, No-The fort, Castillo de San Felipe, is outside of the walled city. It is about 3 miles between the 2 areas. IF you put Castillo de San Felipe, Cartagena, Columbia(or fort Cartagena Columbia) into Google , you will see a map. You can use the Get Directions function to see the distance to the Torre de Reloj Monumento(clock tower monument) which is at one of the entrances to the walled city or to Plaza Bolivar , the main square in the walled city. That is why the locals have told us to taxi between the 2 places. We are walkers but don't want to do miles and miles in hot weather!!

The driver will try tio sell you a tour but just keep insisting he just take you where you asked to go.
edmonton2 #7 Posted February 4 Following...we are interested in walking also. According to Google maps it is 3.2 km (2 miles). We understand about the heat, but just wondering how safe it would be?
