Late night arrival fll..

We are thinking about doing a non-stop flight into fll that won't arrive until 11pm on a Sunday evening. We are cruising out of pom Monday. Would it be better to get transport to Miami late Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Thanks.

Hotel near the airport, then uber to Miami in the A.M.

No reason to limit the hotel to near FLL...the 17th Street area (very popular pre-cruise) is just a 10 min ride away and has some great options...We like the Hyatt Place...then I agree Uber to POM Monday mid-morning.

Great rates for Hyatt Place using:

Since you wouldn't be going to Miami until 9:30 - 10:30 AM, traffic shouldn't be too terrible. Either option works and largely depends on you. I would personally go to Miami on Sunday night only because there is zero traffic at night and it's a 30 - 35 minute drive. I can put up with the extra 20 - 30 minutes drive that same night, then sleep in a bit on Monday and head to the cruise terminal comfortably without having to deal with Monday morning traffic. It's so close that if you wanted to go to Miami Sunday night, it's not a big deal at all.

Yea, just stay in a hotel with a shuttle from FLL. Then Uber to Port Miami. Don't get into the Uber before 10:00 a.m. Traffic from Lauderdale to Miami can be very bad. But clears up a lot by 10am.

Again, this is why I would spend the 20 - 30 extra minutes the night of arrival to just go straight to Miami. Fort Lauderdale airport is right off I95, it's a straight shot. What difference is 20 - 30 minutes? Get the drive out of the way when there is zero traffic.

Uber to Miami Sunday night, then have a easy hop over to the port Monday around 9:45AM or so.

This is true. I am just thinking I would rather get into bed soon, but you are right the time is not much it is 30mins max from FLL to Downtown area at that time of night.

I would say though that if there is a premium for the hotel in Miami I would not think its worth the cost given its just a late night stay. I am also not one to get to the port first thing in the morning. So I would not mind leaving at 10-10:30 and have a leisurely drive down.

Both are fine options.

The price difference is a good point, too. I wouldn't pay much of a premium for it. I personally like to get to the port around 10:00AM as you avoid the big lines and craziness at check-in that seems to go from about 11 - 1.

Thanks everyone for the input. Still not sure what we will do, but will likely decide after I start checking hotel prices. Thanks again for all the help. We haven't gone from FLL to Miami for a cruise since 2004, so memory is a bit rusty.
