Carnival Sunrise vs. Triumph: Deck By Deck Area Comparison

Recommended Posts

The Carnival Triumph was one of my favorite ships and I was a bit disappointed to hear the ship will receive a name change following the big upcoming dry-dock. When I saw Carnival's official press release I opened a copy of the Carnival Sunrise's deck plan and a copy of the Carnival Triumph's to compare the deck plan's side by side. Although many areas are being changed due to the addition of several features, the ship's overall layout will continue to remain the same.

If you would like to read my comparison it is posted on my personal cruise blog: http://www.embarkandaway.com/general-cruise-blog/carnival-sunrise-vs-carnival-triumph-comparing-the-renovated-ship

I tried to make this comparison as detailed as possible because I am personally curious about every little change that will occur to the ship. Unfortunately, we don't have renderings of the interior yet, but these will probably be available when the interactive deck plan is posted by Carnival.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. We love the Triumph too. Where will it's home port be after the renovations?

The ship's homeport starting in April 2019 will be Norfolk, but the ship will reposition to New York in later May 2019. In October 2019, the ship will reposition again to Ft. Lauderdale.

Ohh BOOO!! I was hoping she'd be back in NOLA!

Good camparison. Disappointed they aren’t duplicating the Sunshine Serenity area, which is easily the best one IMO.

I like the Sunshine's Serenity concept as well, but I think they didn't want to change the ship's structure too much because that would have added more time to the dry-dock.

I think this dry dock is the same length as what they used to covert the Sunshjne. They have just made different choices.

What is really interesting is a deck by deck comparison between the Sunshine and Sunrise and they are pretty different....

Also noticed that when they finish people will have to walk right down the middle of the casino to get from forward to aft on deck 5 rather than along the side. I see many people being upset about having to walk right through all of the smoke. I didn't like this design concept on other ships and I don't like it here. It's also strange to see kids "in the casino", but they are just using the walkway.

unfortunately, this is nothing new. almost all other cruises lines have a similar casino layout with the walkway right in the middle.

Norwegian newest ship (breakaway, getaway, escape, etc) biggest complaint is about the casino smoke
