Will Carnival mail a refund check for port fees less than $10?

My SO had a refund of $6 for port fees on his cash account and did not go to GS to pick it up. I know that anything less than $10 left in a casino account will be donated to charity, but what about a refund of port fees for such a small amount?

You gave Carnival $6 to use as a tax write off? Its already been said but the don't mail a check unless it's $10 or more.

That is what I thought. Not a big deal, it just wasn’t worth trying to push through a horde of people and luggage to get to GS. Thanks.

I did get a check for $14 or so... they will mail a check for any amount upon request, and automatically do for $10 or more. We did not have to ask.

 

FYI - we donate quite often to St. Judes - had a child who was a patient there. Great choice for a charity.

Nope, not the way it works. Individual accounts are held, until the end of a cruise. They need to balance each account to $0.00. A balance in the account, gets sent out to either the passenger, or the charity. The small amounts get moved to the charity account, where the charity account, is zeroed out on a regular basis. This never hits income. It's also not a tax writeoff, because Carnival is not making the donation, but rather emptying the charity account of passenger gifts.
