njcruisefan Posted October 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2018 Hello I will be on the silhouette in a few week and I will need to fax something. Is there a way to fax?
Bo1953 Posted October 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2018 While I do not have personal knowledge of faxes on the ship, I Am sure there is at least one, somewhere. If it can be used by the public is a different question. Is the document time sensitive? If not, can it not wait until first port? What about taking a photo with your phone and either emailing or texting, presuming your phone has a camera which can do this and that type of transmission is acceptable to the recipient? bon voyage
gerelmx Posted October 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2018 As Bo1953 commented I recommend that take a photo of the document, with the iPhone can be do a scan in PDF and protected with a password, then send the document by email to the recipient. Orator Posted October 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2018 If you have access to Michael's Club the Concierge will do it for you. I've used the service several times and there was no cost. If you do not have access to MC you can ask at Guest Relations.
JaneStarr Posted October 28, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2018 I use a great scanner app on my iPhone (Readlle’s Scanner Pro). I use my phone to scan any document as a pdf or just open an emailed PDF in Readdle’s PDF Expert app. The PDF Expert app allows me to sign documents with a signature stamp. I can then add a password to securely email the signed PDF or I can use an electronic fax service (I use metrofax for $7.95/mo) to email the non-password-protected pdf to the receiver’s fax machine. Note that I use the paid version of Readdle’s Scanner Pro and PDF Expert apps. I also use Readdle’s PDF Converter to convert documents into PDF format, but you might not need that. On an iphone or ipad, you can “Print” most things to PDF. When the print dialog box opens, just pinch open the preview document to convert it to a PDF. You can then save it, email it, message it, etc. I work from everywhere on my iPad; these tools make it possible. Jane
