I redeemed points for $100 ship board credit about a month ago. I have the confirmation email. Will the OBC show up before the cruise or when I am on the ship? Cruise is 02/23/2019. Thank you in advance.

I called Royal and was told it can be added up to five days before sailing so I plan to call five days out if I don't see mine. I would be happy if mine shows up 2-3 weeks before we sail as that's less I have to try to do just before sailing.😊

If I redeem points for $500 OBC but don’t use it all what happens to the balance?

Also, could I use that OBC for playing in the casino?  And how would I go about that?

Thank you.

The remaining balance can be cashed out at Guest Services on the last day, or they will automatically credit the credit card on file for the onboard account.

You cannot directly use OBC for gambling.  However, you can get a cash advance against your onboard account at the casino cashier.  They will charge 5% for that.

Thank you Bob!

You're welcome.

If you do want to get cash at the casino, just ask them for a cash advance, don't mention anything about cashing out OBC.

The waiting drives me crazy!  I redeemed my points for OBC months ago, and I check daily to see it there...  with my cruise coming up in 3.5 weeks, I should see it soon 🙂

Seems to close enough for the Visa points OBC to show up.  I'd call the redemption people to check:  888-305-4626.

Yep, I know.  I redeemed mine about 6 months ago, for my upcoming sailing.

That is normal.  They told me 10 days before the cruise.  You can call them and ask them to add them to your cruise planner now. They will get a department that will get it added now.  If you don't call and request it be added early they will not add it until 10 days prior.  I redeemed 500 in OBC and the same thing happened to me.

Thanks Buckeye!  If I don’t see my credit by Friday, I will call 🙂

I understand, but having talked with a couple of the Royal people who do this, getting it in early doesn't help, they put the requests in a pile and work on them by sail date.

I agree... the only reason I do it early is so that I don’t forget 🙂

What is the rate of redemption for points to OBC?

5000 points gets $50 OBC.

This represents a 2% return on RC purchases because an RC purchase gets 2 points per dollar spent.
