Pie Eater Posted March 31, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2019 Hi all We are thinking of an Iona Fjords cruise in August 2020 for a significant birthday. We usually choose Adult ships or cruise out of school holidays, just wondering if there would be a lot of children on the ship at this time or do the Fjords not attract a lot families. We are not adverse to children being on the ship but would not like it to be more children than adults (if you know what I mean).
majortom10 Posted March 31, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2019 With it being August I think there might be a significant number of children seeing that it is school holidays even though Norwegian Fjords might not be as popular as the Med for families. AndyMichelle Posted March 31, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2019 When this first went on sale, kids went free, so I guess there would be plenty of Parrnts/Grandparents who would take the kids on s relatively free holiday. On the other hand, there seems to be a few adult only venues on Iona, so we should find some peace when needed. Andy
yorkshirephil Posted March 31, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2019 It could also depend on how well the cruise is sold, if there are a lot of cabins left they may let kids sail free or third person in cabin for a pound. This would affect adult to kids ratio. Usually the kids clubs take lots of the kids and you would like to think they would be well catered for in August. Cathygh Posted April 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2019 We did Aurora to the fjords in August and although there were children they were hardly noticeable. Even if there are empty cabins nearer the sailing date if the kids clubs ae full P&O won't sell the cabins to families unless the capacity of the clubs is increased.
