Internet Package Question

We booked our Millennium cruise this summer with 2 perks (Beverage Package and Internet). I have been reading that there is now the Surf package and the Stream package. Which one will I get with my perks? We had internet last summer on the Equinox and its was good enough to place facebook voice calls and to FaceTime, however there was only one level of package then. We had cruised on MSC in the past and they have a Social Surfing package that allows you on popular apps, however I couldn't open other links and it was horribly slow. Trying to figure out what we have with our perks and if it will meet our needs to check in at home often and hopefully keep up on some things that I would typically stream in downtime.

The internet package in the perk should be the streaming package. If you can survive with 1 device logged in at a time, the $300 OBC perk may be a better deal unless you have a long cruise. My internet streaming package for 7 day is only $198 while the surfing package is only $81 (after 20% off).

You will get the same unlimited package which you had before.

Yes, Jelayne is correct. You and your cabin mate will each have the unlimited package for 1 device, since when you choose perks you must both choose the same.

To be honest we don't really have anything to use the $300 on. We both have a BOA Royal Visa with more than enough points to cover tips. And other than beverages we won't really spend anything onboard. We booked all of our excursions independently! Next summer we have 3 cabins and each has $400 shipboard credit, beverages and tips paid. Since the whole family is going we won't need to keep in touch with home so we are actually going to need to work to spend the $400 per cabin.

Not meaning to highjack here, but we're in the same boat.  With booking onboard and choosing OBC and internet, as a solo I have $600 obc on my Norwegian Fjords 11 nt cruise.  Since I don't drink alcohol and book private excursions, I'll have to work really hard to spend that much.  Last cruise I had $450, so did a couple nights specialty dining, paid tips, and bought a bunch of Clinique sunscreen and stuff that I wouldn't buy at home.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are happy with our choices of internet and drinks. My mom will get the internet package anyway (to be able to check in at home since my grandmother isn't in the best health) so it made the most sense. There was really no point for us to get onboard credit and have to 'find' something to do with it. I don't like spending money just to spend it, and I have somewhat simple tastes (I don't need designer sunscreen/makeup, alcohol, or new tech). Especially since we took about a $200 per person price increase for the perks it seems pretty pointless to just waste the money. Hoping I will have the stream package. I will try to remember to report back.

I have met folks on a cruise with the same problem...too much OBC.  I've volunteered to help them. We meet at the cashier in the casino.  They get $100 in "promotional" chips.....they give them to me and I give them $100 in cash.  I don't mind doing that...whether I win or lose in the casino, I'll lose $100 worth of chips along the way so it costs me nothing and helps out a fellow passenger.  Obviously, the problem is finding someone who plays the casino who understands that it costs them nothing to do this for you.  We often travel with another couple who don't gamble...I've helped them use their OBC the same way.

 

Other than that, buy yourself or meaningful other/child/grandchild a watch.  Yes, you can buy cheaper on shore but if you have nothing else to spend your OBC on, a watch is a reasonable choice.  Alternatively, consider buying an IPAD...upgrade what  you have....find someone to help you sell your old one on ebay or craigslist.
