Bermuda curfew?

The ship itself does not have a curfew but the main gate for the port might. We have visited 5 times by cruise, on 4 different line. Only once the main gate to the port had a lock out time of midnight, but it was during a high security alert on the island. People were allowed to go to the movie theater, nightclub , pub (they have food too), and bar within the Royal Dockyard complex until they closed up shop for the night about 1am.

Bermuda is a bit of a sleepy island at night. Most attractions and shops close at 5pm with almost all being shut down at 7pm. Restaurants in Hamilton, Saint Georges, and around the larger resorts will be open most nights seating until 9pm. Select resorts around the island may offer nightlife to tourists, but at some it's for on site guests only. The movie and fines arts theaters may have shows or concerts. The pubs and sports bar in Hamilton and Saint George will be open late, but you might have trouble getting transportation after 11pm.

In the evening public transportation  slows down, where during the day a route would have a bus every 15 minutes, in the evening, about 7pm,  till midnight they might run once an hour. Usually unless there is a special event like a street festival ferry service back to the Dockyard from St George stops by 6pm and from Hamilton usually the last ferry is around 7pm. After 10pm the taxis go on premium fares about 50% more than their day and evening rate. 

This does not mean there's nothing to do after sundown, as many tour boat owners offer sunset and moonlight champagne and rum cruises, and certain times of the year family friendly bioluminescence tours. SInce the marina is part of the Dockyard complex there is no worries able being able to get back to the ship. These tours are very poplar and it's not uncommon to find out that the tickets for them sold out online before the ship arrived. It just means you need to plan things if you plan to attend entertainment outside of the dock area.

The ship will also have shows and activities running every night while in port. Also the casino will be allowed to open at 9 pm if the cruise line opts in for the extra permit.

Just to add to maryred's excellent info, transportation at night gets scarce, especially if you depend on the bus. You may find that the bus comes once an hour and it will be filled to capacity. Try to be aware of how to get a taxi. Some from our cruise had to take the empty bus back away from the port to reach a population center where there were taxis.

 

I will also note that we were there on a Sunday overnight, and so much stuff was closed for the day or closed very early, even the tourist spots. Ferries and buses were also on shortened schedules. Unlike most cruise ports that know a ship is in port where the vendors largely adapt to the ship's schedule, Bermuda keeps to their regular schedule.

Good info here, thanks everyone!  We are going to Bermuda in September, but annoyingly the stay is one overnight, 4pm to 4pm, which means rush off the ship, see some of Bermuda in the evening, get back on board because they roll up the sidewalks, then next day get out there again, but don't linger too far into the afternoon.  4pm to 8pm the next night would have been nicer, and two full nights even better.  But the itinerary from Canaveral doesn't seem to allow for that timing.

Unless things have changed and I missed it the ONLY multiple night sailings come from Baltimore or NYC. I've done the Baltimore one (3 days 2 nights docked in Bermuda) and it was AWESOME but more expensive than most other 7 day cruises...

I'll be joining you on Breeze. I agree with you- wish we were either getting in sooner or departing a bit later, but I'm happy just to be able to go to Bermuda from a FL port close to us vs. flying north to take a cruise

I will be on the Breeze cruise in September too.  I am happy that it is leaving out of Florida because it is warm and it is on my favorite size ship.  We cruised out of Baltimore last year and really liked our hotel, which was next to the water.  They had some events going on that day, so it was fun walking around the day before our cruise.  But it was so cold that we had to wear jackets the day we boarded the ship.  It was a smaller ship.  Because of the weather, we never got to Bermuda and were routed to the Bahamas.  I really hope to see Bermuda this time.

Yeah, NYC and Baltimore are about 200 miles closer to Bermuda than Canaveral.  I guess that is just enough distance to allow them to stay over two nights, even on a six-day cruise, because they aren't also going to Grand Turk or some other port.

 

I see there is an 8-day cruise out of NYC to Bermuda that also visits Grand Turk, and they still manage to stay from 9am on one day to 3pm next day.  the extra cruising day helps, obviously.  The 7-day out of Baltimore is best of all for time spent in Bermuda - approx 52 hrs docked there.

I  live about 90 minutes from the NYC pier. I still rather drive down to Baltimore to get on the ship. Looking forward to Pride to Bermuda in September. The only one I would consider out of NYC is the 6-day on the Radience Summer 2020. Instead of cutting time in Bermuda, they knock off a Sea day.
